My husband and I have been trying to make it for the past several weeks, but something always get in the way. Maybe tonight
I plan to come tonight. I have a meeting scheduled to run until 6:00pm. If it ends on time, I’ll arrive around 7:30; if later, later.
We’re in - for the last time before our trip. We will not however, be getting there earlier as is the standard. I gotta go home first, then we gotta go back, so it might be around 7:30 as well.
So with everybody running late, we’ll end up standing in a corner of the parking lot because we couldn’t get a table?
I’m planning to be there, and I may even be able to show up early to secure a space. Keep your peckers up!
I’ll be there sometime between 6:00 and 6:30.
picunurse, this looks like a great day for you and yours to attend. I’m sure we all hope to see you there. Looks like we’ll have enough to field two teams.
Do you all think it’s a good day to sit on the deck? Cervaise and I will have trouble reserving enough space inside the pub, and I don’t think it’s too likely to rain on us. Everyone should bring something warm to wear, though.
I’ll be there also, just to have overflowing teams, and as per usual, I won’t be there until around 7:45ish.
The George & Dragon Pub… that sounds very familiar to me…
I just moved to the Ballard area last week, right across from the Locks - is that bar close to me? (Forgive my ignorance, I’m still not used to street names. I just hang out around Market Street, Leary Way, Ballard Ave, etc, until I learn my way around more - I’m originally from a very small town and all we had was a “Main Street”!) Trivia night sounds like a lot of fun.
The George and Dragon Pub is east of you, a little past where Leary changes into 36th St. It’s a lot closer to the Fremont bridge than it is to the Ballard bridge, but I’d count it as close to you. The site link above has maps if you’re still not sure where I mean.
Anastasaeon, you should definitely check it out. I plan to stake out one of the tables out on the deck, to the right side of the main entrance as you are facing the building from the parking lot. Bring a jacket, as the deck gets cool when the sun goes down. Still, we prefer the deck because you can hear the public address speakers better and the cigarette smoke doesn’t build up as much as it does inside. I have short brown hair, am clean-shaven, 40 years old and will probably be wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt over a brown shirt. The contest starts at 8, but if you get there earlier you’ll have time to order some English pub food and get to know your teammates.
Excellent, I think I have an idea where it is… I’ve walked as far as that Cape Cod Comfys store, and I think I remember seeing the pub right in that area. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get out there tonight, hopefully I’ll be able to make it next Tuesday. It sounds like fun - really my kind of thing, English Pubs, football - any Chelsea fans out there? (And anyone go to see them play Celtic at Seahawk ahem pardon me, Qwest Field this year?) If I do go out, you’ll recognise me by the long blondish-red hair, and Chelsea jersey
Can I just say… VICTORY!
That is all.
No, wait, that isn’t all. Where the heck was the new blood?
Congrats!
Hey, would anyone be interested in getting together on a Monday for pub trivia? A friend of mine pointed me to a place in the U-district that does trivia on Monday nights at 8. I can’t make Tuesdays because I’m playing hockey again, but I’ve been to this pub once on a Monday for the quiz, and it was pretty good. I think it was less Brit-themed than I remember the George and Dragon quiz being, and 50 questions instead of 40.
is O’Shea’s.
This place? I might be willing to go to a different quiz one time, if others will be there. Can’t really see myself hanging out in pubs twice every week, but once is a possibility.
I’d be happy to try a different place sometime, although as with Saltire, I’d keep my pubbing habit to once a week. We should plan an evening.
However, I will not be at the G&D tonight – I’ve got a class this evening from 6-10, which pretty much ensures I’ll miss the whole thing. See y’all next week.
That’s the one! I didn’t realize there was a fee to play though - last time I was picked up at the last minute to fill an absence on a co-worker’s friend’s team and got there just as it was starting. Is there a fee at the George and Dragon as well?
Fee at Gee and Dee is five bucks a team. Of course, if you win, you get to collect all the other teams’ entry fees.
Re tonight, I probably won’t be attending. Not feeling so hot.
Is this going to be one of those Tuesdays in which things just don’t quite come together?
If others will be attending, I can be there between 6:30 and 7:00. However, if I’m going to be all by my onesies, I’ll skip it too. Alone, my score would be embarassing.
Alrightythen. As I’m now leaving my desk for the evening and there have been no further responses, I’m declaring tonight’s trivia outing to be a washout–for myself, at least. See you all next week, hopefully.
My apologies for not remembering to check the boards all day (and having something else to do this evening). I guess my avoidance of websurfing until after the election is working a little too well…except for this note, of course.
I’ll probably miss next week too, since the Earshot Jazz Festival is on. And in two weeks there’s a little televised event I’ll want to tune in for.
You know, E. Thorp brings up a good point. I’ll be working the polls on November 2nd, and others will probably want to be home watching the coverage. Maybe we should plan now to make our foray to O’Shea’s in that week?
I must say, however, that I may not be able to go to a Monday trivia then. I need to be up at about 4:30am on Tuesday. Still, it’s worth discussing.
