I would like to use this thread to mention that adaher’s blatherings made what I was hoping would be a good discussion on Thomas Picketty’s new book instead turned out to be hundreds of posts of adaher saying wrong things and not understanding the correction.
Dozens of posts about his weaselly and mostly incorrect use of “in the margins” makes me wish he gets a margin lodged up his ass.
Yes the man is a walking Dunning-Kruger effect. It doesn’t occur to him that his incompetence is correlated with the speed of his posting.

I’ve been enjoying documenting just a small fraction of the serial wrongness of adaher’s posts in the Pit thread he started. I quickly realized it would be a full time job.
I have often thought that if adaher posted that that the sky was blue, it would* cease to be true*.
Since this thread started, the Dopers of the climate-change-denial community, FXMastermind and brazil84 and so on, have been giving adaher some reason to fear for his title.
adaher seems to concentrate on partisan positions that are so extreme that the universe seems to plot against them; however, I have seen very little racism from him (like when he swallowed the efforts of nativist groups behind the ones suing the government against the Dreamers) not at the ugly levels I have seen coming from the Chief and brazil, the extra woo woo in FX’s case is in the nuclear and medical fields.

I think there are, Gagundathar, but they were far more entertaining. To me, adaher, is just infinitely tiresome.
At the very least you could be sure wherever adaher lives was currently in the middle of the worst thunderstorm in its history.
The guy’s annoying the hell out of me. He throws so much chaff into otherwise-interesting political debates as to render the threads unreadable and pointless. And while I do on some level admire the people who keep engaging him intellectually, with integrity and goodwill, it’s become a real DNFTT situation, with the T being blissfully unaware of his limitations. He’s the exemplar of the Dunning-Kruger Effect.
At some point in debate, mockery and ridicule are valid options. It’s disappointing when it sinks to that level, but if logic and reason are disrespected and disregarded, what else is there? Unfortunately, the board rules themselves don’t allow this level of engagement in forums other than the BBQ Pit, so we’re stuck with him explaining everything to us in every political thread, with no awareness of the self-serving nature of his critical thinking skills.

I have him on ignore and I report threads that he hijacks. The moderators will act if you tell them what’s happening. Elections is unreadable when he’s just allowed to run wild.
Don’t you really mean that it’s unreadable when people post things that you don’t agree with?
He’s a decent enough fellow. He’s like the little boy who happily wades though a pile of horseshit, knowing there must be a pony in there somewhere. He’s the GOP version of Baghdad Bob.

No, people over here do think it is unreadable when usually no cites are produced by him to support the bullshit he pushes.
Adaher is responsible for somewhere between 15 and 20 percent of all current posts in the Elections forum. Has anyone in the history of this board ever shitted up a single forum so completely before?
