This’ll be the first “must have” expansion for me since Nightlife.
In addition to changing seasons, The Sims 2: Seasons (expected to be released the last week of February) will add weather effects like snow, rain, lightning, and hail. According to GameSpot’s preview, “the additions won’t merely be cosmetic, as each will impact the sims’ relationships, moods, skills, and careers in a unique way.” I’m guessing that the addition of lightning will mean that Sims can be struck by it, no idea if the hail will damage vehicles that are left out in the open though.
I hope you can set the weather yourself. This will make an excellent addition to my mad scientist and his Castle of Doom.

One of the sites had a weather hack for Sims 1 that was pretty funny but it was pretty much just cosmetic.
I have a question. I didn’t get OFB but have all the other expansions. Is it worth it to get OFB?
I have OFB and personally, I think it’s difficult. I had very little success (and patience) with trying to operate a business. When I did try one outside of the home, it seemed like that’s all my sims ever did. I tired of it quickly. I had more luck (and fun) with home-based businesses. I’ve had my sims sell their own paintings, toys they’ve made, flowers, and also had them buy stuff wholesale and mark it up. The salon chair is fun too.
If you’re into legacies at all, it was fun to do a legacy with the only income coming from a home-based business. Much more difficult than regular legacies.
Not all the expansion packs have been my cup of tea, but I simply have to have them anyway, if for no other reason than to get new content.
That’s why I like the expansions too- more stuff!
I’m more into building/decorating than game play. Actually I play Sims2 pretty much like Sims1. I can’t stand to see my sims die.
But I’m a big cheater.
I don’t have OFB, either, but have been reading up on it. I like the lemonade stand for young Sims. I plan to use my Best Buy 10% software coupon to get Pets tonight, and might get OFB as well.
8 weeks 'til Seasons…
I’m not nuts about OFB. I like the new content, but the added gameplay elements are kind of dull, IMHO. Building up the businesses isn’t particularly fun and it takes a while (both in my time, and in Sim time – the Sims were aging before my eyes as they tried to get ahead in business, without much time left for skill-building or the other things I need them to do). I let them live their natural lifespans and then let them die off, and the business-building was taking up WAY too much of their time. Oddly enough, the one business I created that I actually play often is the graveyard, I made a really nice one, organized into family plots and masoleums.
I made a few more cute business properties to play around with the build tools and the new content, but I very rarely bother to send my Sims to their businesses. I do like letting them make toys or floral arrangements at home. The robot building is sort of a dud, the only one I really like is the gardenbot.
I haven’t had Pets for very long, but so far I am enjoying the new gameplay elements a lot more than OFB. I think it’s going to be a lot harder for me to let the Pets die than it is with the Sims.
I am really looking forward to Weather (or Seasons, as I guess it’s really called) – that is one thing I always wanted even from way back with the original Sims.
Well, they didn’t have OFB but I got Pets. Anyone else have trouble installing their Pets? Mine’s having trouble getting past 64%.

Did you turn everything off before you tried to install like virus protection?
I didn’t have trouble but I can check around at the Sims boards. Do you have a bunch of downloads? You could try removing your download folder. I hate to say this but lots of people that have trouble installing exp. is because of the cd.
What kind of a message do you get?
Nothing. It just gets to 65% and apparently stalls.
Did you ever delete your group cache file? You don’t have to worry, it regenerates itself but sometimes it gets corrputed
Go to My Documents/ EA Games/ The Sims 2 and delete the groups.cache. file.
Sometimes that helps if my game doesn’t load. I’ll check around.

Okay, that was weird. It was “stalling” because it was at the end of the first disk but wasn’t prompting for the second. I moved the download folder and now it does prompt for the second.

Why do I have the sinking feeling that the SIMs may accidentally drown in a rainstorm? 
Is there thunder and lightning? And a Smite button to go with them?
Seasons is out! Got mine last night, along with OFB.
One new neighborhood, 6 new careers, and too much gardening can turn your Sim into a plant.
Edit: and “get struck by lightning” is apparently a Knowledge aspiration.
Oh, I’m so jealous. I really want it but I’m pretty short on cash right now so it’s going to have to wait until at least next week or maybe even longer. That’s funny about sims turning into plants for gardening too much. My mom would totally be a plant if she were a sim! Is there an antidote for simplants like there is for vampires?
Also, do any of you have pets? I, for one, am not pleased with it at all. I find owning/training pets rather tedious. Which is rather surprising because I’m a pet lover in real life. All they seem to do in the game is annoy me, with their ripping of furniture and peeing on the floor. I also hate the strays that are constantly digging up my yards. There’s also a new lifetime want to have 20 pet best friends. I have a hard enough time fulfilling LTWs to have 20 sim best friends. It’s not like you can call pets on the phone and chat for an hour to increase your relationship points.
