In Which Johnny L.A. Owes a Doper a Lunch

As some of you know, our own Johnny L.A. is currently visiting friends in my hometown of New Orleans. Ever being the gentleman, John made a point of contacting me prior to his visit and we managed to rendezvous today for lunch.

John met me at my office and we sauntered over (hey! it’s 95 degrees right now) to my choice - Herbsaint. We had a good lunch and a good visit. Not to brag, BUT given that it was my choice of restaurant and my hometown, I picked up the tab. Thus the thread title.

John hasn’t had a chance to check the boards recently and probably won’t for another couple of days, but he wanted y’all to know he’s having a good time despite the heat and usual challenges of New Orleans.

I’m grateful that he thought to get in touch. It’s always been fun to get together with Dopers anytime, anywhere.

Oh… he also said that he’s looking for a Doper to take out to repay the lunch he owes. So if you’d like John to treat you, please post to this thread. The more extravagant and entertaining the justification, the more extravagant the lunch.

Thanks John!

Hey Ivorybill,

Here’s a public thank-you for lunch. That was quite the tasty roast beef salad.

As I mentioned, I’ve been telecommuting in my slack time. I figured out the problem with my program. It helps if I define the fields correctly instead of recycling old code! :smack: (Oh, and it helps if you don’t inadvertently delete bits of code too.)

I decided to knock off for the day, so I have a little time to check out the Dope. Looks like 69º and showers back home, and 66º and showers when I return on Saturday. Should be a nice comfortable 67º (partly cloudy) on Sunday for my aviation meet-up. I love this city, but man is it hot!

Having a blast with my friends. My friend’s wife doesn’t really speak English, so I think I’ve picked up more Spanish in the past five days than I did all the time I was living in L.A.!

Thanks again, Ivorybill!

Great restaurant - I was there a couple of years ago, at a convention held after Katrina. Their dinner menu and wine list were wonderful.
