In your opinion, is this woman a good dancer?

No, not particularly good. Not particularly bad either. Just meh.

She’s not on the beat and she looks self-conscious, so therefore bad dancer. Too awkward.

Well it’s all pretty subjective, eh?

I mean what we need is some point of reference in order to make a true comparison.

Thus I respectfully submit the following (Totally SFW)

linky

as one end of the spectrum.

Not sure where this gal fits in but she at least ranks a notch above the two trying to get their groove on here.

I think I saw those cuties on “The Lawrence Welk Show”. No?
Okay, wait now, “Sesame Street”. There we go. Elmo was giggling in the background.

Well, she’s a better dancer than I am, but I’m afraid I may be personally responsible for a certain negative stereotype about white people.

She looks like someone dancing around their bedroom. It doesn’t make me want to gouge my eyes out or anything, but I could only tolerate about half the video. She’s pretty bad for someone being presented as a solo dancer, or even a backup dancer. She wouldn’t stand out if she were in a crowd at a club, but I’ve seen better dancing at clubs. I’ve seen better dancing at school talent shows.

Nope, looks ridiculous, is a bad dancer.

Whereas, looks ridiculous, but is a good dancer.

Well the ops dancer , to me looks like she is doing the opening act in a strip show. Her moves are reminicent of some of Michael Jacksons without the actual moon walking. The music for me really threw it off, rocker chicks up here in Ontario tend to be a bit more twirly, but the size of the dance floor could account for that.

As well, It could have well been what she was wearing for shoes. I know that if I am wearing running shoes, I get too much grip and could end up looking like a spaz cause I am more used to the cowboy kickers that glide across a floor.

Declan

She looks like she’s drunk. Is that really dancing, or just staggering?

I thought that too. Or she is imitating someone she saw dance in a club who she thought was good, but was really Kamikaze’d / Appletini’d out of their minds.

She looks really off balance and not connected to the music. I’d worry that she was drunker than she thought she was and/or that she wasn’t having fun and really just wanted to leave the club. But not embarrassingly bad. Just run-of-the-mill not good at all.

Laughably bad.

There are a couple of shows on tv that have, I think, ruined dancing for some people. :frowning:

I’ve never seen a single episode of any of those Dancing With People I’ve Never Heard of shows. I’ve seen actual people in real life (myself included - not bragging) who can actually dance. She is terrible.

I’d have some dance background, and I’m gonna actually score this mofo.

Following the music:
2/10 - I think for this music it would flow better if she stepped twice as often. Her timing is erratic in any case.

Technical skill:
2/10 - Some of the “locking” stuff she does might require some practice, but that’s about it

Originality:
3/10 - An interesting mix of styles, but it doesn’t look especially well thought-out. Probably it’s simply all the steps she knows.

That’s what I’m talking about! :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, the other thing you have to keep in mind is that the internet consensus is that the stupidest and least intelligent comments in the universe are the ones on YouTube.

So make up your own mind on the dancing thing.

Yes, she’s a good dancer. And being a good dancer isn’t that particularly subjective.

What is subjective is whether or not the dance she is doing is that great.

It’s a weird dance, and I don’t like it much, but you can tell by the way she moves that she could perform a better dance than that.

I don’t get the impression that the music she is listening to is synched properly with the music in the video.

Bottom line, we don’t know anything about the context. I think it looks like some kind of musical theater kind of thing, and as such she might be performing a particular kind of role that we don’t know of.

I am judging her by how she moves her hips, more than anything else. I think she’s a good dancer acting like a bad dancer on purpose for some reason.

That’s exactly what I came into post - she has moves and a good sense of rhythm, but for some reason has been asked to dance that particular way for that song…and that particular way seems goofy and hesitant.

In the couple times you can see her face, it looks like she might be goofing.
