I keep reading “outage” as “outrage.” Anyone else having this problem?
In this instance, I do not see that as a problem!
Yep
One thing I can say–if we can’t get Tapatalk working right again, it’s really, really, really easy to make this site mobile friendly. It’s already rather dynamic. It just needs a single line of HTML to tell mobile web browser that it would work as mobile site (instead of it mimicking a desktop browser.)

On some phones in portrait mode, part of the most recent post in a forum on the forum list can get cut off, but it’s there in landscape.
Only problem is that you still get logged out all the time.
Edit: well, unless you add a line of code that can’t be wordwrapped, like I did. I think I fixed it.
For the record, that was me in an attempt to log on, not an impersonator.
Sock puppet. Ban him. No excuses.
Akumal?
On the Internet, no one knows if you’re an impersonator.

I am curious as to the “Big 6” questions regarding the outage:
[ol][li]Who was behind it?[/li][li]What occasioned the SDMB being the target?[/li][li]When did it begin?[/li][li]Why would someone do this?[/li][li]Where are those bastards who did this?[/li][li]How can the SDMB prevent further attacks but without inconveniencing the users?Bonus question: Is there any chance that one of the miscreants who participated in the attack will face justice?[/ol][/li][/QUOTE]
Good questions, all, but… We need to first establish if it was really an attack, not a misconfiguration, malfunction, or accident of some kind.
For example, you could ask those same questions about the Marley Big Ban, but all it would be is outage outrage.
Test, test. Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3.
I was able to log in successfully yesterday in the morning, but for the rest of the day, I got the old ‘you’ve tried to log in too many times, so fuck off for 15 minutes’…or something to that effect.
Then this morning, I got a previously not seen error 'The request could not be satisfied. Cloudfront attempted to establish a connection with the origin, but either the attempt failed or the origin closed the connection."
p.s. This is not a complaint; I am just relaying symptoms, for the poor tech bastard who is tasked with fixing this problem.
I’m probably saying something you already knew, but things are very slow. It can take a minute or more for a response to a request, and I’m getting frequent 503 errors.
I checked to make sure, and the connection from my end is working just fine.
I’m getting all sorts of server errors now. Seems to be getting much worse.
yup. all sorts of problems right now. Good luck in fixing it, guys.
You found my tablet. Please ship it home to me asap. Thank you.
I don’t know how other people are finding it, but I’m finding I’m staying logged in now.
Yep, seems to be working for me except for Tapatalk. The SDMB tech wizards rock.
I’m staying logged in on my computer, but get logged off on my kindle whenever I click to another page or thread.
Woohoo! I’m staying logged in now, even when using my bookmark to UserCP (as opposed to the link at the top of forum pages.) All is right with the world.
I spoke about an hour too soon. Tapatalk working now.
