Just letting the admins know that I also have to keep logging in even just going between forums.
Can’t take a hint, can you.
My Tapatalk still doesn’t work. I can read from “Trending”, but my “participated”, “subscribed”, and “unread” sections are dead.
Repeatedly logging back in is a PITA.
Someone is going to get to pad the heck out of their killing record. Lots of heads to add to the wall.
As long as I make a fast post somewhere I’m not having a problem staying logged in. If I read for more than five minutes or so without posting at least once, even in the best of times, I get logged out. That may be something more normal to the board than something left over from the attack.
Don’t know if this is related to the Great ‘Outtage’ or something separate; however, there are two moved threads in GQ that are wonky. When I click on them, it takes me to a signin pages; once I signin it says I don’t have permission to view. It never used to be like that, & other Moved threads don’t have the same result, so I’m not sure if the were moved to another accessible sub forum or to Davy Jones Locker[sup]©/®/ ™[/sup] forum. I thought if they were moved to an inaccessible forum that the mover would have wiped them from appearing in the list.
**Moved: Centralized cooking solutions
Moved: Super lightning fire strike**
I’m not getting logged out at all.
Using a Windows laptop.
It’s not a normal feature of the board. I figured out why these features are breaking. I won’t say anything here because I’m not sure how much should be shared in this thread. Especially once I realized that what broke things may have been done on purpose–depending on how the attacker did what they did.
But I’m posting here to say that everything mentioned in this thread (except maybe Tapatalk problems, which I’m not 100% sure about) are caused by something that changed when they implemented the fix.
It’s pretty God damned annoying to have to log back in every fucking time I disappear for a minute.
Can this ever be fixed?
Weird. I haven’t been logged out once all day. Even took a half hour away and nothing happened.
I do browse only through “New Posts”.
Hmmmm… I’m using Chrome.
You?
Me too.
Firefox
Also Firefox. Found I’d been logged out while not active. The ‘see latest unread post’ seems to be (mostly) working now, but I’ve noticed that threads I’ve read still show as being unread.
I have to manually mark forums read to not keep getting the same “latest unread” when I revisit a thread. That “s=[string of random hexadecimal]” in the URL for a thread or post seems potentially relevant to the problem, but I’m no expert in this topic.
In that case my “staying logged in” problem may be a different creature. (It’s happened to me regularly for years and I’ve brought it up here (ATMB) before.)
That was a spam thread. So Davy Jones would be the answer. Why there was a remaining link is odd. Perhaps you caught things mid-way. It is gone now.
Those are spam threads that were wished away to the cornfield. Whoever moved them forgot to check the box so that it wouldn’t leave a redirect.
There are a couple of different ways that we can delete spam, but right now this is the only one that is working for us. Since the default is for it to leave a redirect, it’s an easy mistake for us to make right now, especially since a lot of us are used to deleting spam using a different method.
If you see any more of those, let me know and I’ll delete the redirect.
I fear you are correct, and in the long-run, too. It also looks as though the board’s new configuration is to time-out a log-in. I cannot tell if that is based on inactivity alone or if it’s an exact time before booting the user off-line.
I am curious as to the “Big 6” questions regarding the outage:
[ol][li]Who was behind it?[/li][li]What occasioned the SDMB being the target?[/li][li]When did it begin?[/li][li]Why would someone do this?[/li][li]Where are those bastards who did this?[/li][]How can the SDMB prevent further attacks but without inconveniencing the users?[]Bonus question: Is there any chance that one of the miscreants who participated in the attack will face justice?[/ol]
Enipla back. Posting from resort in Animal mexico on tablet that came with the room. Nice place.
