Yet another annoyance: Not only am I getting logged out, but it appears that every login session has a different hash or whatever it is. The result is that the URLs are different every time. I like to use the differently-colored visited links to see at a glance which threads I’ve opened before, but I can’t do that now.
Yes. The difference in URLs has the potential for a number of annoyances. I also wonder what will happen when someone copies a link to a thread here and then posts it on another website. Will the link remain valid over time?
Second or third this. The Twitter account @Str8dope_com is the one from the Straightdope.com homepage and is used for official tweets, but the last one from there is from six months ago. It would have been helpful if Ed or someone else in charge had sent a tweet from that account explaining the problem.
And getting constantly logged out is annoying. Please try to find a fix for that.
I had a dozen or so threads that came up when I clicked on User CP. I logged out, then logged back in, getting a different string in the URL, and now User CP returns “There are no subscribed threads to display in this folder for this time period.” So now I’ve lost track of all the threads I was participating in!

Click the “View All Subscribed Threads” link at the bottom of the empty “no subscribed threads” display to list them all. (The link is inside the blue footer bar.) The most recent threads will be listed first.

The IPs were fake and/or internal to the server, so tracing it would be useless.
I’m not sure you can delete it yourself; I couldn’t find such a function in the CP. Anyway, just email a mod or report a post and tell them what happened. That’s what I did, and they disappeared my sock username along with all my sock posts, leaving not a crumb behind.
These posts from fuzzySock (goo.gl/cVh31x; post #24) and from sockyFuzz22 (goo.gl/YK0obJ; post #22) have not been deleted,

Checking in. Got logged in this morning with the password in the “reset password” email that got sent at 3:15am the other night. Then promptly changed it to something new. Haven’t tried with Tapatalk yet, need to get me some coffee first.

I was wrong when I said this; as of now, my sock posts still stand (or they came back?). It’s all very confusing.
Not all of those were created in The Great Outage; some may predate it. Conversely, there probably were some sock names created during TGO without “sock” in the name. It looks like Colibri, or someone impersonating him, created Colibri2 then.
If I had the mod task of eliminating the appropriate names without handing out penalties, I’d just make a list of the names created during the specified time period and delete the obvious ones first.
