I mean, I knew the backstory was tired and crappy. (Evil Superman, Lois fridged, yawn.) But having played it, I just think that the gameplay is… blah. I mean, most fighting games, I can get into the groove of playing after a couple of hours. But some of the characters of Injustice just defy my ability to play them well.
Batman and Superman are two of the worst offenders.
It seems like you have to be in make-out range to use any basic attacks effectively.
It’s more frustrating than fun. Though Aquaman seems to work pretty well.
Also : Anyone know when they’re going to release the Not-Shitty Costumes DLC?
I think there’s something fundamentally wrong with the game’s “tactile” design - either there’s not enough hitstop, or the hit sounds are weak, or SOMETHING, because NONE of the attacks give me any sense of power or impact at all. It feels like rubber action figures come to life but still only six inches high.
I don’t know exactly what is missing, but they missed it, and it’s BAD. I’m not a huge fan of Mortal Kombat and it has some of that same “plastic-y” feel, but at least with all the superfluous blood and nonsense, it seemed like the characters were actually making contact with another and imparting force.
They kind of get it right with the destructible backgrounds. I get the sense of the world shattering power of some of these characters. But yeah, the actual hits don’t feel like they should.
