Uh, scratch that Bradbury. I see I already have it!
I got my book today! Thanks, UrbanChic!
I did have a moment when I got it out of the mailbox, though. I stood there thinking, “What is this? I don’t know this person, why are they sending me something?”
Then I felt it, and thought, “It feels like a book. Who would be sending me a boo… Ooooooh, yeah!” :smack:
I swear, if I get any dumber…
I’m so glad to hear it! I felt bad that you had to wait so long to get it considering we so close to each other.
How are others making out? Have you received your books? Does anyone need help with postage?
I’ve got more books to list, but I wasn’t sure if this thread was officially dead or not. Maybe we should do this twice a year or so. What do you guys think?
Peri, I mailed your book this morning.
I just wanted to post that I got my two books from **UrbanChic ** and they are in beautiful condition! Thanks a bunch!
Naz, I received Midwives today. Thank you!
I got my books from Gorrilla Girl this evening. Yay! I’m so looking forward to reading them. Thank you so much, Gorilla Girl!
And, of course, I then misspell her username, not once but twice. Sorry, GorillaGirl.
Naz, the Murakami came today. Sweet! Thanks so much!
Dang. This looks like fun, but I just culled my bookcases a couple weeks ago, and everything went to the library sale.
I do have one book I’d love to see go to a good home: It’s a Russian-English/English-Russian dictionary. About 700 pages, paperback. It was a required purchase for a course that I was ‘advised’ to drop about three weeks in. The cover used to have a plastic lamination, but much of that is/has peeled off. The book is in great shape otherwise, hardly looks like it was ever used.
Uh, I did mention I was failing the course… :o
I also have a VHS horror movie I’d be glad to send: Julian Sands in “Warlock: The Armageddon.” I know absolutely nothing about the movie – it just ‘appeared’ in our house a couple of years ago. Undoubtedly accidentally left behind by some visitor, but, hey, they’ve had a couple of years to reclaim it…
I received my books today; thanks, Scuba_Ben.
Ooh! Then I’ll take that Bradbury!
All of my books are at home, but I’ll sort through them and post here when I’m back for spring break.
JerH , I got the Bone books today. Thanks so much! My kid and I were both immediately engrossed. She’s already carried them away to her lair, I believe.
Mrs. Furthur
Ooo! Scuba_Ben is obviously very generous. I got my books today, too! And proved to my SO what really nice people Dopers are. He just couldn’t believe Dopers would send me books for free.
Monday is turning into free book day apparently. Not only did I get The Love You Make, Biffy the Elephant Shrew also threw in a bonus CD - apparently from Biffy himself. So now I have two things to help me ignore my duties at work tomorrow.
I got my books from Scuba_Ben on the 25th, and my book from further on the 26th. They’re both very generous.
If anyone has non-fiction books they’re willing to part with (especially about science, int’l relations, or sociology), let me know. I’m also going to start learning Spanish soon, so if you have an old textbook lying around, I’d be happy to have that too.
Perhaps everyone lookinmg for books here would enjoy visting the Bookcrossing webpage. They do basically the same thing and more.
People will leave books in public places for others to find… or trade with other members.
JerH, I got my book last night. I’d forgotten all about it, so it was a happy surprise in my mailbox. Thanks!
I got my Harry Potter books from Emerald Grue yesterday, and promptly spent the evening reading HP & the Sorcercer’s Stone. Thanks very much!
