McDonald’s menu isn’t the same everywhere. In Australia they put beetroot on their burgers. India has vegetarian options. To those dopers who have eaten at McD’s outside the U.S. is there any item you wish they had here?
Wait until someone brings up the scrambled eggs on burgers in Japan. And then I’ll shoot them.
- Cerowyn, who gags at the smell of eggs
I saw this in Halifax, Nova Scotia this summer.
Didn’t seem like a good idea…
Beetroot on hamburgers is why nobody will ever take Australia seriously. About anything.
I guess I should point out some actually good things from McDonald’s Japan.
There’s the “Ebi Filet-o” (shrimp version of the Filet-o-fish), the teriyaki burger and the “McPork.” In Yokohama, I once had curry fries (you get a packet of curry mix and paper bag with your fries, as a sort of do-it-yourself flavouring deal). I don’t go to McDonald’s often enough to know how typical that was.
Last year when I took my kids to a McDonald’s in Ueno, I discovered that they didn’t have ketchup to put on your fries. I found that a bit odd. (Wendy’s does have ketchup for your fries, for instance, as does Freshness Burger, one of the home-grown chains.)
I would love to see all the items in this thread, except the beetroot, in my local McDonalds. The McLobster and curry fries would be a great snack.
Beer.
Bless the Germans.
I remembered around the Northeast they had a lobsteroll sandwich (probably the same item from post 3). In think it was in singapore where they offered chili sauce in addition to ketchup.
Mmmm, I would love to taste a Teriyaki Burger. Very nice.
I haven’t tried too many foreign Mickey D’s options, when I go to a McD’s while traveling it’s because I’m in need of a safe, reliable, tasty piece of home. I did notice that McD’s in parts of Europe have an abominable version of ketchup that is so sweet that it seems like it belongs with the dessert toppings.
It’s not international, but when I lived in Maine in 1989-90, they sold Lobsterburgers at MickeyD’s. It was a lobster salad in a bun, and it was damn good!
Beat me to it!
Aloo Tikki Burger…mmm. I dislike McDonald’s on principle but my impulses got the better of me in India. Those things are perfect.
Beer in Germany, yes. Also, they give you a teeny tiny little fork to eat your fries with. At least they used to. It was cute.
Over here we have McShawarma.
Seriously! I’m not kidding!
(Also McKebab, McShnitzel and a finely cut Israeli Salad).
Heh yeah, I saw the small fork thing in Greece as well. Must be a central European thing.
I’ve never seen beetroot on a McDonald’s burger - I think ages ago they had some limited edition. I just checked the site and couldn’t see it there either. Mind you I’ve not been to a McDonald’s for years.
However, I have to say any burger is lacking without beetroot. It’s awesome! Start with just one slice… Soon you will have lots!
The Bacon-Potato Pie they sell (sold?) in Japanese McDonalds. Yumm. Deep fried and crispy outside, molten hot, bacony, with a hint of onion, mashed potatoes inside. Yummm.
Yeah what do you all have against beetroot?
Ack, gag me with a . . . beetroot, apparently.
Quit calling it beetroot! We don’t call it potatoroot or carrotroot or onionroot!
It’s a beet!
