Hi, sorry I’ve been away so long, but couldn’t get online at all yesterday. Congratulations Chavardz you did indeed get the correct answer - well done!
You did ask for a question that involved web searching and a bit of deduction, I hope I delivered
In other words it isn’t official in the country of it’s origin?
(sorry to drag it out, but I’ve been known to get these simple things wrong, you know )
Well, Voodoo is recognised as an official religion in Haiti but I believe originated in Africa - I haven’t found a reference as to whether is is official or not in Africa though
Hmm, I see that my previous clue was awkward. The pagan religion in question originated in Europe and travelled to the other country (can’t say that country as it will give it away) where it survived underground. It was eventually made one of the two official religions of this country. The other official religion is a Christian one.
Hint 2: For it to survive so long and not be extinguished by Christianity, this country has to be fairly isolated.
If you are unaware of some of the main pagan path’s you can find them at the pagan path selector’s webpage. However, I don’t believe that will tell you where it became one of the official religions of said country.
Santeria is not a European religion. It had it’s roots in Africa and is along the voodoo branch. Depending on which version you follow (I believe Haitian and South American… I think) you could have the inclusion of Catholic Saints as Orisha. I am not well versed in it though.
