Internet Explorer Problem

I recently upgraded to IE6 and everything is going smoothly except for one thing. When I try to go to Lilek’s site I get a message about whether I want to open a file or save it, as if I was downloading a file. Does anyone know how to fix this? All the other sites I visit work just as they did before.

What’s the URL? www.lileks.com?

What’s the name of the file IE prompts you to open or download?

It sounds as thought the site wants to install a character set in order to view it correctly. I’ve come across a few sites from time to time that do that.

That is the correct URL and the file name is lileks and it does not give a file type. It does not appear to be installing a character set as I have seen that before.

Beats me, then. I just visited that site, and it did not attempt to download anything, and looking at the page source, I see nothing that would cause that page to download anything.

No problems here.

Tested with Opera 6.04, IE 5.50 and Netscape 7x.

I’m also unable to reproduce this problem using IE6SP1.

Are you using any kind of popup-blocking software?

I have run into that problem (not on that site) but on other sites, mainly online news sites. I’m pretty sure it is the ad-servers, not the site itself. Just click cancel and continue on.
