Windows XP Home, IE 6.0. My wife and I have separate accounts on the same computer. I just recreated her account after a weird problem accured a while ago, and now when you attempt to run more than one copy of IE by clicking the icon or selecting File-> new or clicking a link the new copy runs, but the previous copy closes and all your history with it. You can see on the task bar how the new copy opens and slides over the old copy as it closes, if you know how XP animation works. I have changed the Folder Options to open new folders in the same or new window to no effect. I’m sure this setting is somewhere, I just can’t find it.
type: regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
Click ok…then once it says it’s registered, click ok again
(hopefully this will be enough to fix it)
If not, go back to Start\Run and type:
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
Click ok…then once it says it’s registered, click ok again
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
Click ok…then once it says it’s registered, click ok again
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
Click ok…then once it says it’s registered, click ok again
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
Click ok…then once it says it’s registered, click ok again
Use copy and paste if you need to.
Make an extra user account. See if IE works fine. If so, import her settings, and see if it is indeed something in her settings, or a corrupt user profile?
I don’t know about them, but I hate, can’t stand, will not put up with, hate, (did I say HATE yet?) having anything on my puter that don’t work.
So I got IE, Irefox, Opra & AOHell browsers and they all work fine and each does what I want them to do and if they get buggy… I fix them. Might take a bit, but I fix them.
Got an app that I tried and did not buy? Out with it after it expires. No dead wood for my electrons to have to work around…
Shame on you for suggesting he leave an non-working app on his puter… *Tisk, tisk, tisk *
