Oh GOD! Threads and posts like this one are the reason I’m beginning to really dislike the Pit. Look, INTERPRETER may have unpopular opinions that nobody agrees with (including me), he may be sanctimonious, he may be preachy, but so what?! For Pete’s sake! It’s a free country! Why waste the energy it takes to argue with him? They’re only opinions people, things that by their very nature are subjective. Whole societies have been built and lasted for hundreds of years with a lot more misogyny than INT has expressed. I’m not defending him (he can do that himself) I’m just tired of seeing people come to the Pit purely to spew verbal garbage at others. And before someone points it out, I know I have done this myself. The difference here is that the OP went out of his way to insult INT solely over a matter of opinion. Whether those opinions were “good” or “bad” doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that apparently INT did nothing to the OP except think something that the OP found objectionable and dare to express it. And by the way Maeglin, the OP didn’t “refute” INT’s points, he just called him an idiot for trying to make them. INT made a bunch of over-generalizations that can’t really be proven or disproven (I haven’t looked at the GD thread, I’m going on what’s in here). Is that a crime? At worst it was only stupid. Leave it alone already. Expending so much energy on something like this merely makes it look like you have nothing better to do.
God, I’m so sick of this shit! Maybe I should just stop ever looking in the Pit at all…
Well, Lizard, it’s not so much that some people find INTERPRETER to be obnoxious/annoying/assholic/what have you, but it’s suspected that he may be another poster who’s been banned long ago. If it were true (and I have no idea if it is or not, and have no intention of going out of my way to find out), the name INTERPRETER would be banned as well.
Well okay, if he’s already been banned multiple times that’s different. But is anyone in a position to prove this conclusively except the moderators? And I never said anything about the OP not having a right to call INT an asshole. I just think it’s a waste of time and breath or what have you. There will always be people who sharply disagree with you. Berating them accomplishes nothing. Ever hear “Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.”?
For the record, I am not an individual that was banned from this site nor am I a poster masquerading under an assumed name.
I did put forward an opinion on another message board and have openly denounced the cravenness of Milossarian, who started this thread, for not having the decency to properly and civilly respond to my argument, pro or con, as have the abundance of other posters on that particular board.
I openly reiterate my friendly challenge to you, Milossarian - up to now you have, in my eyes, proven to lack character, integrity and intelligence: again, it is far too easy to hide behind the veil of moral indignation and bring a posting to the pit, knowing in advance it will be subjected to infantile treatment. It belies your propensity to meanness and makes me think that you cannot fight your own fights without the help of a demeaning crowd to counter your adversary. You have responded to me in the pit, and on this thread, which did surprise me. I thought you had more character. Maybe you do - if so, I am certain that you will throw off this sheen of childish arrogance that has compelled you to drag a fellow poster on this thread because you were rubbed the wrong way by his opinion. Join the impressive number of other posters in the multitude of other message boards who have an opinion and do not lack the cowardice to express it; those who do not fall easy and quick prey to their need to ridicule and hide behind others’ fire because of their ineptitude to formulate a proper response. You seem far more adept at responding to opinions than originating them - this base attribute has always been the hallmark of those who would rather follow and cower than lead.
This is my last visit on this particular thread. We have, I think, exhaustively rehashed and revisited all the schoolyard cliches and behaviour needed for this particular exercise. I congratulate all the pit-dwellers who have skilfully done their job here - my comments, however, are not addressed to you but to Milossarian - I look forward to reading some of your opinions on other boards; if I agree with them, I will readily say so; if I disagree, I will give you my reasons why but will not stoop to beg the help and atmosphere of the pit to shore up my arguments.
I hope to read more than one-line repartees from you in the future. Do not take this posting as an admonishment but simply as a statement of fact.
In response to that last post, whats with this INTERPRETER fuckwit? He talks like on of my fucked up management textbooks. The over use of syllables is, I’ve found, often the sign of a serious lack of content. And I believe someone made a comment about teaching pigs to sing? When dickheads like this aren’t rapidly stepped on, they begin to think that their ideas have merit, and before you know it, you have the Democrats. Or N.Z.'s Labour Party, or a step further, Communism. That code of ethics, shared by all major societies to a greater or lesser extent, throughout time, demands that such idiots be smacked, and smacked hard. And if you don’t believe in an ethical system common to all men, through all of recorded history, I suggest you read C.S.Lewis’s “The Abolition of Man”. Its actually a fairly short few essays so even INTERPRETER should be able to manage it. Does this qualify as a more than one line repartee?
