i.e. a “neutral” High German accent. Although there were some German pirates there is no real German pirate accent - probably because pretty much all pirates in popular culture are foreign. For the most part the dubbed versions only use different accents when it’s necessary for the plot and the same accent can be used. Substituting other accents (e.g. giving the pirates a coastal German accent) can come across as seriously cheesy. Nobody in their right mind would do that with protagonists but it’s sometimes done for other parts when the original accent doesn’t work for some reason.
Arrr, that’ll be a keelhaulin’ to be sure, ye scurvy dog! Then up to the crow’s nest with ye, to see if yarrr spyglass can seek out a clue!
Arrr harr me hearties, I listened to a treasure chest full of jewels from the Kinks and Monkees today.
You know…“Davies’, Jones Locker”?
Keelhaulin’ is too good for the likes of ye.
Aw, hell, I missed it again!
I keep doing that!
Don’t worry it will be back next yarrrrr!
(Oh God I hate myself for that.)
You mean that when I speak German, I sound like a German pirate?
