Win or lose kudos to Sanders for doing this well. And he will win by a wide margin in NH. After that? Not unless he can appeal to demographics that he so far has failed to connect with.
Looks like a devastating night for Jeb. I think whatever deep pockets donors he had left will be looking elsewhere.
Doesn’t matter - negative media coverage doesn’t have to correlate with reality. Look at all the things the media has played as “Hillary’s DEMISE!”. This is a tie in an area of the country that swings towards Sanders, but it’ll be presented as a Clinton loss. People love an underdog story!
Says the guy who thinks the Democrats are anti-God and anti-military.
But Sanders has momentum. Tying in the first contest when he was in single digits a year ago is extremely positive.

The problem is that the issue is so worn out now that it’s just annoying static when it’s discussed.
Bernie?
Yes, by proportion of white liberal voters in the Democratic primary or caucus, Iowa is #3 (New Hampshire is #2 and Bernie’s Vermont is #1). And Bernie is either losing or barely squeaking it out, in a state where the demographics are more friendly to him than in 47 other states. It’ll be a rough couple of weeks in the media for Clinton, but Bernie needs to have more than just some momentum to win. If he doesn’t win over a lot more superdelegates, he actually has to surpass Obama’s 2008 campaign by a little bit to win the nomination. Hillary wins if she grinds out exactly what she achieved in 2008 overall and keeps 90% of the establishment on her side.
If Bernie wins, I think it’s bad news for the Iowa parties, actually. It’s already a freak show on the GOP side, supporting whackadoodles like Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, and Mike Huckabee. If the Democrats start ignoring it too, why bother giving such an anti-democratic exercise such pre-eminence?
Bill Clinton looks half dead.
By the same token, Cruz is screwing up his speech with the family speeches and one too many God references. I get the feeling that at a Cruz rally, I couldn’t sneak off to the bar and get a double shot to take back to the hotel room.
You cannot make too many God references in the GOP primaries.
WTF with Hillary declaring victory? Does she not know about the negative aspect of the coronation meme?
Cruz…Shudder.
Hillary is excited that Bernie did so well because it means that we can now have a real conversation about the future of this country!
Talk about spin.
Well then it’s a good thing she didn’t ;).
I wonder if Trump is regretting skipping the debate yet, not that he’d ever admit it! I hope it haunts him in NH, too.
I don’t know about beating Hillary, but I’ve said all along that Rubio is the real threat on the Republican side – he’s smart, he’s establishment and electable, and he’s a freaking extremist.
It all depends on how well the right can once again manufacture an issue where there isn’t one, the way the swift boaters turned a war hero into a villain or health care reform into a scare about “death panels”.
She just did. Declare victory, that is.
The vote totals on cnn just got significantly closer, and the percentage dropped. Seems they may have decided there were more total votes than previously projected?
You really got to relax. Your older self will be very embarrassed by commentary like this when you read it in the future. Unless you turn out just like elucidator.
Nope.
CNN even explicitly confirmed with their reporter on the scene that she never claimed victory in her speech.
