Trying to restore my new iphone to a backup made in May. When I go to itunes (on a PC) I do not get the little phone icon that will allow me to restore. A different iphone is not recognized either. I am signed in. It even asks me to prove I can be trusted. I know the fix is likely simple but I cannot find it online. Can anyone give me some advice.
Sorry I can’t offer any specific advice, but if you struck out looking online, maybe this will help as a start.

So I tried each of those, and followed all the instructions. Now when I plug the iphone in the little phone icon shows up momentarily and then disappears. Sometimes I get a pop up saying that itunes does not recognize the phone.

The only things I can think of (which might have been covered in those links) are to make sure iTunes, Windows and iOS are all up to date, make sure the iPhone is unlocked when you plug it in, use a different USB cable if you have one, use a different USB port on the computer and also try cleaning out the iPhone charging port (carefully).
Thanks for helping. After about an hour on the phone with apple support they taught me how to restore an iphone with an evidently secret way of entering restore mode (turn off, press the side button and immediately plug in the phone with itunes open). The other, easier to find ways did not work.
