I recently bought a new iPod Touch from Wal-Mart. When I got it home, it worked fine, right out of the box. iTunes recognized it and it was synced without a problem.
However, not too long after I upgraded to software version 2.0, and then my computer would only recognize it if it was in restore mode. After poking around I found that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver was not installing correctly. Downgrading to software version 1.1.4 seemed to fix this.
Or so I thought. Before I left for work this morning it was working fine, again. When I got home, however, it was doing the same exact thing. When I go to the device manager the driver has a little yellow circle with a ! in it, and when I try to update/reinstall the driver it says installation failed. This is extraordinarily annoying and I can’t recharge it either. Also, it seems to work on other accounts and computers, just not mine.
I have a XPC (not really sure what model, but poking around on the Shuttle website it looks like a Glamour G5 but it’s not one of the new ones…it’s a couple years old) running 32 bit Windows XP Professional with SP2.
