You may want to open it as there is chocolate in it and one doesn;t know how long it will stay fresh.

@scudsucker , please check out the e-mail I sent you yesterday. Your Secret Santa has a request re: shipping!
it arrived!
i love the card! so funny.
you did very well, i always trust the sdmb.
the box contained:
a very cute moose
snowman ornament
gummi bears
chocolate
vulcan salute
a book
bathbomb
cat toy
ravenclaw tin
and socks!
thank you so very much!
in sending out news…
there is a home library estate sale starting today. i will check that out for my person because books. then get the box out by tomorrow.
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy the stories. IIRC, you’ve said you like mysteries, and Ruth Rendell is not only my favorite mystery writer, she’s in my top three of favorite authors full stop.
I could have gotten a Gryffindor tin instead, but I figured, most people choose Gryffindor, while if someone’s a regular on SDMB, they’re likely to have Ravenclaw tendencies.
Bath bomb? No, that’s soap. Recycled soap, in fact: years ago, I melted down a bunch of dried-up hotel soaps, added cream, and poured it into gelatin molds. So you’ll get more use out of it than one bath bomb!
The Vulcan salute is a cookie cutter. Sorry I didn’t realize, when I ordered it, that it would be so tiny. And notice that the snowman is holding the WVU logo. That and the chocolate bar are the “local” contributions!
you figured correctly, as i sorted into ravenclaw on the harry potter site. ah! soap! that works well, as i realized this morning i don’t have soap at the bathroom sink. i thought it might be a cookie cutter…
lager helped unwrap things as he sat on the wrapped items, then in the box. koritza enjoys the mouse.
well done, rilchiam!
That’s adorable!
Man, I am getting bogged down in what US Customs will allow in or not. You guys are weird about food.
Nevertheless, I am flexible. Should send early tomorrow. My plans were not all food related.
Just glad I did not try to buy a Cape Town speciality… Bokkum, dried fish.
Though I was tempted to send a small sample…
got the dates mixed up, the home library estate sale started today. i did find 2 books for my secret person. i will not be able to get the box out today. should all go well, it will go out on monday.
Life has been more than usually complex and delays have been getting together and making little baby delays, but I finally posted today. I hope it makes it allll the way over the pond in time!
I sent the last part of mine out yesterday. I’m hoping the card will arrive first, before the parcels do.
To whoever gets my packages… sorry they will arrive in a few separate parcels! It was quite a bit more affordable to get the merchant to ship directly to you, than for me to consolidate and re-ship them. I thought it’d be better to use the funds for better gifts instead of higher shipping.
Bought the last few details today. Post tomorrow. Different timezone, third world postal system, but it should meet the deadline
This morning I received a package from Pennsylvania! I was going to save it for a week because I still like having something to open on my birthday.
I put the package on the side table and George kept getting up there and rolling on the package. Finally I figured that there might be something in the package for cats because George is a good kitty who usually doesn’t get on tables when the people are around.
As soon as I cut the flap open, he started grabbing for it. Inside I found four wrapped gifts and a card from @Reeses_Monkey ! Thank you so much!
George grabbed on of the gifts and tried to take off with it, so I fought him off and opened it to find a big yellow catnip filled banana. George is a very happy cat, its a wonderful toy and it smells SOOOO good to him.
Thank you again, I love watching the fuzzbutts lose their minds ![]()
You’re welcome! I’m surprised he could smell it through the envelope, the wrapping, and the bag. That is one sensitive nose.
The nose knows!
Usually George lurves his Jolene and will let her have anything she wants first. Not the banana, he refused to share. Until he was too zoned to mind.
Cat tax from a month ago.
Those are lovely kitties. Glad George enjoys his banana!
I’m well behind, but I have a big box of questionable content (man, oh man, did I have to study international border restrictions) ready to move, first thing tomorrow. I’m going to send via our equivalent of premium mail, because the actual govt. mail is appalling in this fine country.
Probably out-going will be fine, and once it is in the air it will be OK.
Also, I have never prepped and wrapped a package like this! It is like the gifts my grandparents sent me and my siblings when we lived in Rhodesia and they lived in Zambia.
Back before the Soviet Union broke up I sent a Christmas gift to a person I coressponded with. It was a fruitcake and the company had a very plain box so that it wasn’t obviously good food. The guy I sent it to said sometimes food packages disappeared im the mail. It was going to Latvia but eh SU still was socky about things like that.
