Is anyone 'playing' Curiosity?

Peter Molyneux has a, well, I guess it’s a game, called Curiosity. Basically, it entails a lot of people pecking away at this huge virtual cube in space to reveal what’s under each successive layer, until, supposedly, one person gets to the chewy center and discovers…well, something that’s hidden there. But only one person in the world will get to (initially…I’m sure they will do some screen shots or otherwise let folks know what it is) see whatever is at the heart of the cube.

In the mean time, playing simply involves basically tapping away at the screen…each tap corresponds to a small cube disintegrating. On the good side, it’s a free download on an iPad. There are, surprisingly, a bunch of really annoying things about this (besides the boring part of just tapping away at the screen) in such a seemingly simple game. One of them is connecting…I’ve had trouble several times connecting to the server. Another one is that to clear a screen (and get a bonus amount of gold or whatever it is they use to keep score with) you have to hit every box…and they put the freaking Facebook box in the top right corner, which I kept hitting (now I generally clear that box first, them move the screen so the Facebook icon is over the cleared box)…which throws you out of the game and sometimes screws up the money thingy (the next annoying thing). I think the ‘money’ is used for special features or something (haven’t gotten into that yet), but by hitting the Facebook icon it costs you some or sometimes all of your money for some reason.

Basically, the game is pretty mindless, but there is a point of sorts…and it is interesting to be pecking away and suddenly see someone else pecking away as well as boxes just disappear…or to zoom out (it’s a really, really BIG square) and see regions gone, or designs you put in being either erased or enhances as someone else decides to whimsically add onto your early whimsy.

Anyone else, um, playing this thing? If so…thoughts?
