Her viewpoint of far, far less government involvement in our lives, as well as a rollback of social services, is a valid viewpoint which seems in the minority on this message board. It may not be one I agree with in any specific or most cases, but it’s a valid minority viewpoint.
I didn’t misattribute anything. I gave an example of what Carol Stream has to offer and asked if that’s what you were referring to. My post was comprised of two questions. I did ask you what you meant.
It might be a valid viewpoint if the way she couched it were realistic, but this is a woman who has said that she doesn’t benefit from the existence of police. She’s not a good representative of “less government involvement” position, she’s a representative of libertopian moonbattery. With a filthy mouth and a penchant for slinging invective when she doesn’t want or more frequently, is incapable of refuting someone else’s point or cite.
Do you realize what you’ve just said here? One, that I jumped in posting just like I do now from the very get go; and two, that I dialed it back. The dialing back is exactly what I was referring to. My first (contentious) thread, IIRC, was in regard to what I regard as the improper use of the word “homophobe” as an epithet to portray people as phobic when they aren’t. I was ultimately advised by a family member who posts here about the cite traditions and other board customs, and I apologized and began to try to observe those customs and traditions. It was at that point that you began to try to cloak yourself in the veneer of wise old sage patiently guiding the newbie.
And for a while I did try to observe board traditions and customs. Until I began to see that cite requests were no more than attempts at obfuscation. That my opponents had no more interest in what a cite said that what I said to begin with, and then I began to notice that I was being deluged with cites on subjective matters for which no cite could possibly exist. So I simply decided not to play that game.
But the fact remains that for quite some time I tried posting here in good faith, but given that my points of view were conservative, it got me nowhere. So finally I decided, fuck it, I’ll just fight fire with fire and give 'em as good as I get.

In other words, you began to portray me dishonestly and and make false claims about what I’d said and believed, and when challenged to back up your words, you slunk away back into the ether until the next time I said something that pissed you off, and then it was a case of, as Shodan says, lather, rinse and repeat.
I’m still friends with Zoe because she makes allowances for our differences, as I do also with her. You insisted upon hypocritically calling me on my generalizations…generalizations which are necessary for conversation and which virtually everyone engages in, while either ignoring or cheering generalizations about my side.

Thanks for the advice, but I’m perfectly aware that the thread isn’t about politics. I also backed out when the OP asked me to and have largely stayed out, but in my opinion ETF’s false recounting of our history demanded rebuttal.
