I always vote everyone a 10 on these sites, because I think it’s nicer.
Especially on the animal hot-or-not sites. How could anyone’s pet be anything other than Perfectly Beautiful? All those beloved small furry creatures, they are all perfect 10s.

I haven’t done much there, but I think they are often under-rated – at least, in the way of guys I find attractive compared to guys I don’t. Maybe I just have weird taste? Though this was a while ago; I haven’t tried lately.
I haven’t been to the people rating sites, but on the kitten rating site (all my Hanna pictures got lost in the crash :() I always rate the kittens high - if it is a good picture. I can’t help it, I’ve never met an ugly cat and they are all beautiful and cute to me. Automatic 10s all around. The only time I ever give a low rating is if the picture itself is awful. If I can’t see what I’m rating, how can I give it a good score?
The shallow part of me really loves this site; it’s embarassing to admit how addictive it is to rate people and see how your rating compares to the average.
I’ve never rated guys, just women, so can’t say anything about guys’ ratings. But for women, the ratings are kinda funny. Lots of women who I consider very attractive get 6’s or 7’s, while some women who ain’t all that hot (but are showing a little skin or cleavage) get in the 9’s or higher.
Can people vote more than once or does it have an honesty counter type thing?
I hadn’t looked at Hot or Not for a long time, but I occasionally look through the Rate-A-Buddy pictures on AIM. Those pictures always seem to be rated very low. A REALLY good looking person will be lucky to get a 7 or 8. And I agree that, for the women at least, a nice looking woman showing a lot of skin and cleavage will get a lot higher rating than if she were more modestly dressed.
I put my picture up there for kicks…I have a 3.6. However, since I have never met the people who’ve rated me, and therefore do not want to date them, I really don’t care all that much.

Why skew the results? Everyone who posts their picture is aware that some people will not find them attractive. If you do not want to vote honestly, you would be doing everyone a favor by simply looking at the pictures and not voting. The results will never be perfect (how could they be?), but they can be a lot better than they are now.
