Is it possible Trump is peaking too early?

I know this is probably wishful thinking, but I’ve been reading posts in this forum about how outraged some voters are with their concerns being ignored, and how they feel that only someone outside the political sphere can help them. And it occurs to me that outrage is something that can be hard to maintain over the long run.

Is it possible Trump is peaking too soon? Maybe instead of asking what he could do that would turn off voters, we should ask what he can do that will keep them fired up – at least fired up enough to make the effort to vote.

His antics have been outrageous enough to get the headlines, but it seems to me (and again, likely wishful thinking) that some of his shit is getting to be “same old same old” and while still reported no longer headlined. If I’m right, he’ll need to become even more outrageous to get those headlines, and that can be risky. But if he doesn’t get those headlines, will some of his supporters move on to something else and put the election on their backburners?

At this point, I’m very cautious about making predictions about Trump and his supporters. The idea that he might have ‘peaked’ was popular when he first took the lead in the primary, and turned out not to be the case.

Also, he’s very good at being outrageous. I for one would not bet on him running out of stupid inflammatory things to say.

The early months of the campaign are often quite volatile with first one candidate doing quite well and then the other one.

I think we are all desperate for some sign that he has, indeed, peaked and too early. :frowning:

Just want to point out, at 11:11 AM, I said this:

And then, at 11:44 AM, the top news story on the NYT website was this: Donald Trump Calls on Russia to Find Hillary Clinton’s Missing Emails

So I feel pretty clever. And also appalled.

But not in the least surprised.
