Is it safe yet? (password/email change)

Is it safe yet to change our email and passwords? I saw a post saying not to but nothing saying the situation had cleared up.

I assume that we can’t ask jdavis until next week during business hours. But we’ll try and find out for you. In the meantime, do those by e-mailing an administrator.

It has been pointed out before that if you’re not logged in you cannot bring up a staff member’s profile. You can find TubaDiva’s e-mail address at straightdope.com (search for TubaDiva). Additionally, even if you are not logged in, you can bring up the web page for a poster. If you click on the www button under one of my posts you will go to my (rudimentary) webpage which has at the bottom my e-mail address. As a matter of fact I will go add this information to the announcement about changing e-mail addresses and/or passwords.

Thanks Arnold!

Instead of putting it in the announcements I added information about how to e-mail some of the administrators in the ATMB FAQ thread.

just checking to see if i can still post, please ignore

My understanding is that jdavis has not confirmed yet that the problem is gone. So if you do a username/email change, and don’t get the confirmation email back, you will have to contact an administrator. See the ATMB FAQ on how to do that if you can’t look up staff member profiles. Also since we don’t know how reliable it is yet, please keep changes to the minimum necessary.

While I hate to bug, my email address listed in my profile is wrong, and it’s already come up as a problem for me twice. Is it safe to change it yet?

White Lightning - you can change it, but you won’t be able to post until you receive the confirmation e-mail, and the confirmation e-mail might get hung up in the system. Go ahead and change it and let us know if you don’t get the confirmation e-mail after a several hour period.

Smooth like butta.

Thanks, Arnold Winkelried.
