Is it standard practice for young(ish) women to shave/wax pubic hair...

Male, mid 50s(ish). I haven’t seen a bush in a while. My current GF shaves (completely) and my last three or four did as well. On my very occasional trip to the naturist communities, they are almost always shaved.

This jungle stuff - truth be told I really dunno what it means. Does it just mean invisible labia, or what? Actually the more I think about it I would love to sleep with a lady with hairy labia and maybe even hair inside her vagina (although in this case the hair would have to not be pubic hairy - it would have to be at the very least super conditioned and ideally like cashmere) so long as I didn’t have to get too close with my head or look too closely.

I honestly cannot tell if the cashmere thing is a terrible idea or incredible. Maybe I should ask some Welshmen.

This word that you use, “love”; I don’t think it means what you think it means.

It probably doesn’t help I’m in Scotland at present, cold and surrounded by sheep

That reminded me that I had a 30 year old copy of the World Guide to Nude Beaches and Recreation, put out by a naturist organization from that era. It’s got lots of pics of people enjoying the outdoors in the nude, and there are a few dozen instances where women’s pubic areas are clearly visible in the pics. There was only one shaved pussy in the lot, and no ‘landing strips’ or anything similar. It would have been harder to discern trimmed pubic hair, but I didn’t notice any obvious trimming in my quick flip-through.

Just another ‘times have changed’ data point.

Personally, I believe those who choose to have a full bush and partake in group nudity without at least carrying their own towel to sit on at all times, are extremely discourteous.

I speak as someone with experience as a nude art model…

So like she had that wolfman disease? (Hypertrichosis) 'cause I can’t picture it growing inside otherwise…

Hey, ain’t no party like an Endor party.

Well as a mid 40’s man I can say that I have not seen an unshaved one for a long time, even women in their mid 40’s seem to shave. Small sample size of single women my age.

I like it.

Heh. Good un.

Don’t know, but there are tons of “Brazilian Wax” places around here now…so the procedure must be popular. Maybe its good-is the hygeine issue a factoir in its popularity?

34 y/o man here. I’ve never had sex with a woman who didn’t at least trim; I’ve never had sex with a woman who was punctilious about trimming.

Sample size is two, one four years younger than I, one six years older.

Word. And even just the vulva itself is physically different between a prepubescent girl and a grown woman. Nothing irritates me more than the suggestion that the men I sleep with are closet child molesters because they have sex with someone who waxes.

I am 27. I’ve always shaved or waxed, but in the last few years I got a full Brazilian laser hair removal. It’s fantastic. And the best part? Everything feels better. Everything. While I was getting laser, I couldn’t wax and instead had to shave. If shaving was my only option, I’d probably have a disco bush-- because shaving is freaking awful. Waxing is great though and laser is even better.

I can’t think of a single friend of mine that doesn’t at least shave down to a landing strip. Wait, untrue-- I know one lady. She once asked me, “But when you wax, doesn’t your crack get all sweaty?” I. . . yeah, she’s different.

Naturist here, whose trips to the communities are more than occasional.

And I can confirm this observation. About 75% bald or almost bald, in my experience.

Male, 52, who manscapes.

In the naturist clubs and communities I’m involved with, carrying around a towel to sit on when needed is mandatory 100% of the time for everyone.

I trim and landscape, but seem to leave more than most of my age around here. Having said that, my body hair is very sparse naturally. I’m 35.

I only got a complaint once. He said he wouldn’t go down on me if there was hair. I said, okay, fine, no more blowjobs. He changed his mind.

But I do have a question. I’ve thought about it and I really have no idea how one would even go about a total/almost total hair removal. I understand Diosa’s laser solution. But those who shave…do you do it daily? If not, what about stubble? And waxing? Do you do that at home? I’ve tried the non-heated stuff but it just doesn’t work well at all for me. But then I’d be kind of anxious about having hot wax near my private parts. Or do you go to salons - I just wouldn’t have the time or the money (and way too lazy) for that, plus like Helen330 I don’t like the idea of strangers poking around my pubes.

So, in short, anyone care to share practicalities?

My wife shaves everyday in the shower, when she does her legs and underarms. even if she misses a day, it’s not really “stubble.” But her hair is pretty fine.

With waxing, you do it once every 4-6 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. For me, I’d wax and get 2-3 weeks of absolute smoothness. Then the hair would slowly grow back, but it was very, very soft-- not at all like jagged shaving regrowth. Yes you’ve got to “grow it out” before you can wax again, but it’s just enough for the wax to grip on (about 1/4 of an inch or sometimes even a bit less).

I would never, ever wax myself and I don’t get people who do. I would go to a place that specializes in Brazilians-- it’s $35 a go. You can pay a little extra for numbing cream if you want, but I was fine just popping an Advil or two an hour before I went. It’s not awkward at all, since these folks stare at vulvas all day. Plus, it’s fast- a good Brazilian waxer will have you done in under 10 minutes (usually even 5).

Everyone I know who shaves regularly does it every couple days and has awful, ugly razor burn. I have no idea why anyone would choose to shave if they prefer the hairless look-- to me, razor burn hurts far worse than waxing does.

Some women chose to shave over wax because they don’t get awful ugly razor burn. I’m sure if they did, they’d prefer another method.

I have to wonder if men who like the shaved look also like looking at little girls?
