I should be clearer - I have no problem doing what most people would consider appropriate in these situations. I just feel guilty afterward for being rude and selfish. I didn’t give in and make conversation with the creeper on the bus, but I felt like a stuck-up bitch. And any after-the-fact justification feels like I’m rationalizing rude behavior.
You’re gonna need to figure out why setting and enforcing reasonable boundaries makes you feel guilty. Society can’t function without appropriate boundaries.
