OK, as mean as I was to start this thread, there is a serious purpose here.
Some proportion of GOP Congressmen really want to shut down EPA, OSHA, much of HHS, and great chunks of the civil service forever. Contrary to a common centrist analysis, the shutdown does not look to them like shooting themselves in the head, nor does a default.
The others, though, they are embarrassed and annoyed. They need a way out. I’m offering one. Scapegoat Sen. Cruz as an unAmerican foreign interloper who’s manipulating TEA Party constituents, and abandon him forever. Of course, they might have to admit that TEA Party extremism is not a bottom-up advocacy of self-evident truths, but they have to do that anyway–unless they want to see a collapsed economy and rivers on fire in the USA.
I think the Pill having that effect ended up not even being true, just something the manufacturers of hormonal contraceptives wanted us to believe.
