I’ve just noticed a “Quick Style Chooser” drop-down menu at the bottom left of SDMB pages … choosing “vBulletin 3” changes the look/feel dramatically. Is this something new, or yet another feature that’s been around forever that I’ve managed to overlook until now? 
I’m wondering the same thing.
I think that’s been around for a while, but since the vB skin doesn’t give you much, it’s not a popular choice. You can also access it from the User Control Panel, I do believe.

How odd! I just noticed it for the first time myself just now and came here to see what was up with the new selection drop-down.
I can’t believe I’ve never noticed it before.
Well I logged in to find that my style selection had changed to vb3 or whatever. Looked like crap in firefox. Switched back to “gamma” and all is well.
My style had changed as well to ‘Straight Dope Message Board vBulletin 3 Style’ from ‘Straight Dope v3 Gamma’. Was there a global change?
Mine changed too, but was easily switched back.
Not sure what happened there, but I was looking at a template change so it’s possible I may have turned this on by accident. It’s always been available from the User Control Panel; now it displays in the page.
Anyway, if you get a craving for seeing how vB does it, you can find out quickly.

I think it’s a temporary quirk; that those in charge may be working on some style changes, turning on the “Allow Users To Change Styles” variable in the vBulletin control panel.
Thank goodness for this post, my view of the forums had gone to poo, but chosing “Straight Dope v3 Gamma” has fixed the problem.
