Probably not. One can never be 100 per cent certain, but as a general rule, the US is not known for being able to keep secrets. Shoot, we could probably figure out Donald Trump’s bathroom schedule if it were of interest. I have a tough time believing that the Gilded Don would be able to keep his mouth shut about something like that either. “Today, in the greatest moment in the history of humankind, I Donald Trump- the most wonderful president that has ever existed- have brought you the cure for cancer and free energy from these very, very nice aliens. We will also be putting a very large, very nice Trump tower on Glarfox VI in the near future.” For these aliens to exist, there would be at a minimum hundreds if not thousands of people that would know about it and it seems inconceivable that all of them would be steel traps. There certainly would be more than a few death bed confessions and you can posit that the government in its shadowy form would be trying to silence them, but that only means they’d have to let more people in on their secret.
I also find it extremely difficult to believe that Obama or even W would have the ‘secret for free energy’ floating around and say, “Nah, we’d rather fry the planet with fossil fuel extraction… just because.”

How can the United States Congress not account for 2.1 trillion dollars in spending? That’s almost comical.

The cure for cancer would save the US and the other first world nations a metric buttload of money, besides from the lionization the person to bring a cure form cancer would get. Also, have you noticed that the family of rich, powerful US individuals continue to die from these diseases? If we really had the cure and an extrajudicial, extrastate apparatus for it, do you seriously think Steve Jobs and John McCain would have died from cancer? Further, I don’t see how aliens, even aliens with a good enough grip on physics to get here would necessarily know more about our biology than we do.
And if we had free energy available, that kind of makes the last few decades of US foreign policy esp. in the middle east look stupid.
As has been mentioned previously, keeping (for example) a cure for cancer secret from the public means that those in the government/military-industrial complex have to be so committed to keeping the secret that they are willing to die, and let their loved ones die, from cancer.
And why would those in the military, or defense contractors, or whoever, not want free energy? If I were a defense contractor, I would be slavering at the thought of replacing every tank, ship, and airplane in the US with something that runs on water (or whatever the idea is). The country that patents this instantly holds the most important industry on the planet.
Why would the government want to continue sending money to Saudi Arabia?
And even the usual excuse for why they keep flying saucers secret doesn’t work. Who the hell is going to panic at the prospect of reducing their energy bill to zero?
So I am going to stick my neck out and say No, they aren’t hiding the most significant advance in human civilization since the steam engine.

It’s inconceivable to me that people in power would keep things like clean energy and cures for diseases from the public when they could much more easily monetize it and make billions of dollars. Why keep relying on oil corporation and big pharma to support you when you can create industries that would make them irrelevant and make you multi-gazillionaire in the process. Even if you assume the worst motives of the people in power, it makes no sense.
