Is there a specific rule about advocating Naziism?

Now I am bleeding all over the boards…

I’d tell them to get their mind out of the gutter and stop talking about tinkling on pianos

You’re not fooling anyone. “55” subtracted from “88” is “33” which is “CC” which when transliterated from Cyrillic is “SS”. BrownieSS… Brown Shirt SS.

Whom do you think you’re kidding!?

You left off that CC pronounced in Latin would be KK, just one K short of the KKK. It’s not that simple…

I am a brown coat. My non-Jewish side of the family was ripped apart by brown shirts. I don’t think I am kidding anybody.

You were probably kidding, though. OOPS.

09 f9 11…

In some contexts, I may have just advocated an illegal act. Strange what powers numbers can have.

Some might admire your single handedly staking out this position, fighting off all comers.

brownie55:I thought it was obvious I was kidding.

That’s not the worst of it. Did you know that there are numbers that are illegal all by themselves? You write out an illegal number, and BAM!, you could get sued by the RIAA before you know it. Isn’t that crazy?

Well, “faggot” also means a bundle of twigs. Maybe he was just talking about putting 125,000 bundles of twigs on the streets of a city. Maybe he was talking about meatballs made from offal, which the Brits call “faggots.” Maybe he was just talking abut having a big British food festival where hundreds of thousands of faggots would be served.

“Heil” is an air conditioning company, and Hitler Road is the name of a street in Circleville, Ohio. Maybe EnlightenedOne works as an HVAC technician, and accidentally copied and pasted an email about a Heil air conditioning system that would be installed in a house on Hitler Road. Ever think of that, huh?

Somehow, that works. I think the ban should be reconsidered.
fnord.
fnord.
fnord.
fnord, dammit!!!
You will all bow down to your Illuminati overlords, eventually. Why not bend to the inevitable, and do it now? We have nice package deals for those who obey early. You could be the Illuminati overlord of your very own neigborhood! Just sign up before any of your neighbors. Otherwise, you might have to obey that jackass across the street!

Well ,he was blowing a lot of hot air though the whole white supremecy thing is rather chilling.

I did nazi that coming.

The difference is easy: being born black (or any colour, for that matter) is an innate state (i.e. unless you’re Michael Jackson or an albino, there’s sod-all you can do about it); whereas, GWB *voluntarily *put his political opinions (which could, and some say, should have been changed) up for public consumption. In so much, he had a choice.

Whoever this racist clown was - the one banned in the OP -, he had the option not to voice his hatred; but like most clowns, he thinks his words and deeds don’t carry consequence. Boo-hoo and bub-bye.

He’s just lucky he doesn’t live in Germany or the UK, as he can be arrested and charged with inciting racial hatred and gaoled for it.

You’ll forgive me if I accord your views on the board rules slightly less attention than they doubtless warrant, considering you’ve been a member for less than a day.

Welcome the SDMB, Full Tilt Boogie!

It may take you a bit to acclimate, and we’ve had an interesting month for new posters. Don’t take it personally.

Well, GODDAMMIT! What’s a guy gotta do to be viewed as a Nazi around here anyways??

Oh wait. I was trying to avoid that. NM.

This kind of comment doesn’t do your argument any favors. When we banned New Deal Democrat, I said he posted a lot of stupid crap but never went as far as advocating racist social policies or making hateful comments about other people. This guy said there’s a race war going on, called gay people “faggots,” and typed out the code for “Heil Hitler.” There aren’t a whole hell of a lot of ways to interpret that.
[/QUOTE]

I wasn’t trying to be rude or insulting. I was trying to point out that using this argument doesn’t strengthen your position on this particular topic. I Know people think it does, and that’s why it’s used all the time, but it doesn’t.

Refusing to engage someone because of a historical atrocity is your right. But it does not give you the right to decide for everyone what can and cannot be discussed.

If TPTB decide that current Nazis have no place on this board, they have that right. After all, it’s their board. But it is not a wise policy to adopt for a web forum dedicated to “fighting ignorance”. Like I said in my post, if this person is a troll, they will out themselves quickly. Banning a troll is not controversial. Banning someone with views that are assumed different is (or at least it should be).

For the record, I have no love for Nazis, so if that’s what you’ve concluded, you are wrong. You’ve also missed the point of my post.

EnlightenedOne is a perfect example of why we need a Penalty Box forum. He could be limited to posting only in the Box, and the rest of us would still have him around to poke fun at if we so desired.

I’m a little surprised people are continuing to discuss this ban on these terms. We’ve never allowed this kind of stuff - not Nazism specifically, but racial insults and hate speech in general. I’m surprised longtime posters are treating this as a new thing. We’ve never said we’ll tolerate We have said for years that you can make very unpopular or even inflammatory arguments here, but you have to do it in a civil manner. EnlightenedOne wasn’t even close to that. Calling people faggots and signing your posts “Heil Hitler” clearly falls on the wrong side of the line. It wasn’t even a close call. Do people think that in order to fight ignorance we have to tolerate not just controversial ideas, but the most hateful possible expression of those ideas and calls for genocide and race war?

This is still not going to happen. We don’t need it, don’t want it, and it’s the opposite of what we’ve been talking about.

Marley,

I, for one, did not read all of EO’s postings. I read the first one, linked in the OP. In that post, I did not see any praising of, or reference to Hitler. Was his post racist? You bet, but I was curious to see where he could have gone with it. If Universalism, as he defines it, is at the root of all problems, I wanted to see him make the case. However, by his second post he referred to “faggots” and in the third, he signed off with the 14/88 thing (I understand the 88, but what’s the connection to 14?)

So, as I mentioned in my original posts, outright banning of these folks doesn’t make much sense if there is a chance to remove the toxic thoughts in his head. As long as he wasn’t directly attacking others, and not crossing lines, I think he should be permitted to speak. But, these people usually show their true motive quickly, and no surprise here, EO did just that.

I have no problem with his banning, and apologize if it appeared as if I did. I was defending the generic, unconventional person with unpopular views. I think they have a right to post. I thought EO fell into that category, but not even close. I should have read further down in that thread, and my confusion would have been cleared.

Nothing to see here. Move along. Keep the traffic moving.
