Is there an iPhone app?

I see DiscourseHub is an available app, but couldn’t figure out how to get here from there. Anyone know?

Reports have been made that the Android and IOS Discourse app are nothing more than skins for Chrome and are not really full-fledged apps. They are crap.

Supposedly the mobile experience, while browser based, is pretty good. I rarely use a phone because my screen is so small but I guess I should go look at it for myself. I have an iPhone myself so lemme see what I can see.

Back to you soonest.

Thanks!

If you want to use the app, just add boards.straightdope.com as the site.

I actually like the app as it’s an easy one click to the site and keeps it separate from my chrome tabs, even if it is just a skin to chrome.

The reviews are crap themselves. I downloaded it and am using it and it’s fine. Probably as fine as using it in the browser (which I tried first) but if nothing else it allows me to add it (the app, which essentially for me IS the SDMB) to my home screen in place of Tapatalk.

You can add a web page, that opens in Safari, to your home screen as an icon instead of the Discourse app if you want. Here’s how. But so far I have no complaints about the Discourse App and am going to keep using it, hoping that there will be continuous improvements.

I’m not able to login to the iPhone app (DiscourseHub) because it tells me I need to enable cookies in the browser. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this? (I believe I have cookies enabled in both Chrome and Safari.)

That did it! I couldn’t figure out what to use when it asked me to add a site. Looking at it, it looks to me just like the board does in Safari. I’m going to mess around with it a bit on my phone.

Fig is another good app, the little I’ve played with it. Enter the community name (boards.straightdope.com) and go from there. Very streamlined interface

Any chance we can get the new Discourse site working on Tapatalk? It’s what I’ve been using for years to access the Straight Dope.

It was posted before the move that discourse doesn’t work with Tapatalk. I’m pretty sure that’s accurate.

Well that’s unfortunate.
