Isolated shit, courtesy your neighbourly right wing scumbag

I expect Alex Jones to claim that Paul Pelosi is a crisis actor.

FWIW, it appears it was a politically motivated attack and not some rando criminal breaking into houses. The attacker was looking for Nancy.

Here’s a thread for discussing the Pelosi attack:

As of this posting, while several Senate Republicans (including Ted Cruz!) have issued statements decrying the attack and expressing well wishes for Paul Pelosi, not a single House Republican – including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy – has done so.

McCarthy reported that he had spoken to Pelosi, just about the same time as you posted. Cheney a little earlier, Scalise a little later.

All “praying”.

Trump has sent his condolences. . .to the assailant, for being apprehended.

It is the least they can do.

He’s probably already noted that he will “pardon Mr. Pelosi’s attacker” as part of the '24 campaign.

Something similar will likely crop up on Mike Adams’ Natural News. He’s heavily into “false flag” conspiracies.

Say - when hammers are banned, will only SD moderators have ban-hammers?

The very least…

Meanwhile I see nothing from Stefanik as of this hour.

On the more general subject, yeah, the notion that the only thing that has prevented the political class from going tyrannical is not respect for the Rule of Law, but fear of being killed by the upset populace, is a highly toxic preaching that does not require massive support to do great damage.

There were a lot of political assassinations when i was a kid. I think the motive was more, “this person is horrible, let’s get rid of him” than it was “make the others fear the populace”. But i was a kid, so maybe i missed that aspect.

That does seem to be more and more likely.

I was hoping it to be a random criminal breaking into houses and looking for stuff to steal, as the last thing we need is more political violence.

Looks like the Republicans really want to kick off Civil War mk. 2.

I suspect that in the end most Republicans will come out with some sort of generic statement of prayers for Mr. Pelosi’s speedy recovery, and a denunciation of the violence as a solution to policy differences meanwhie bemoaning how polarized our country has become, all with a heaping big dose of both-siderism.

This interest in coming together will last about 24 hours or possibly through the weekend before the go back to saying that Democrats are out to destroy America and groom your children, and that 2nd amendment solutions might be necessary.

That trend is something that has risen more recently (“second amendment solutions” and all that)

Jesus. As loathsome as Trump is, I’ll have to see a citation on that.

I think it was a joke on Chefguy’s part, but Poe’s law is a harsh mistress.

Sure, they’ll offer some sotto voce expressions of sympathy, but assuming this is some right-wing, MAGA-hatted nutjob, they’ll go out of their way to avoid condemning him. And then they’ll cry about how Republicans are the REAL victims here when they get called out on it in the press.

Trump: “Let ‘em have hammers. Those hammers aren’t for me.”

Flashback to Kevin McCarthy saying that he’d have a hard time not hitting Nancy Pelosi with a gavel.

Yeah, it was a shot at humor.
