I don’t believe the US armed forces would interfere in government, but I wonder if some governmental organizations would.

Since his violence so far seems to be mostly or entirely directed against himself, I’m leaning towards the former.
Unless he shot someone that they don’t know about.
People who are protesting something usually make it very clear that they’re protesting and what they’re protesting against. Actually, I shouldn’t say “usually”, I should say “always”. Because that’s the definition of a protest. If you’re not communicating it, no protest has occurred.
It’s almost surely a mental health issue.
