Thank you for this. I just spent two hours wandering from place to gut-busting laughing out loud place with it. Just go with the flow. More judgey people might say I wasted two hours but endorphins are endorphins no matter how you come by them. As long as no one is hurt it’s all good.
Happy birthday to Squeaky and glad MrsMagill is seeing the light at the end magic.
Ouch on FCD’s fall Mooooooom. Hope he didn’t get too banged up.
Glad you’re feeling a little better swampy.
My manager and I had a good sit down this morning. I think he’s under a lot of pressure right now and that my direct supervisor is stirring caca. She sent out an email to him before she came in this morning telling him that I had taken a quiz and scored 20% (failed) on my continuing ed. I showed him my transcript and where I was in the course. There are no quizzes or exams in this course and I’m 20% finished. :headsmack: I think he’s beginning to get the picture.
The coordinator and I chatted out on the floor some this morning. Apparently, she’s doing the same thing to him. Oh, well. From a couple of things that the manager said, we may be having a physical inventory for the first time since 2007 after our PW audit. That’s when more heads would roll, likely including his. I may survive this without having to go to the penitentiary.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Evening all. Managed to waste another day without appreciable activity, did take another bath (it’s a habit I could learn…) and made a couple shopping lists, which will force me (because there is a list) to do something tomorrow.
Of course, that’s when it’s supposed to rain…
red, sounds like the higher-ups already have thier eyes on this character; good luck.
Sunny, smallest ship I’ve been on (for cruising) was a 40-pax ship in the Galapagos-of course, the weather there is somewhat more calm than the Great Southern Ocean…
Glad to hear you’re feeling better, swampy. And dont’cha know that next to Government, Churches are the biggest bureaucracy there is?
Not any good at photoshop, flyboy, but opening that picture…need to add brain bleach to the shopping list…
FCM, floor looks nice. And it appears Roxy approves.
nellie, just be happy you have hair to be fiddled with; my top has been comb-over territory for the past 35 years.
OK, need to put some stuff away and do some modest kitchen cleaning, so all y’all take care.
There is a bear(N.O.S.) wandering around the area. I have told Gordie he is not to challenge the “big black dog” to a fight.
Nice floor, FCM. And tell FCD to take it easy.
Yay for no prison time, red.
Hey, I’m always near the bottom in the occasional board popularity contests, so no worries.
I like “White Hat” 'cause of your icon.
red at first I read that as someone said you failed the test so you could leave the position … oh there was drama yesterday… I informed my other cousin that his input was no longer needed concerning my well being and lifestyle its doubtful ill be living the one true and correct way … but it pissed off aunt to no end so ill be dealing with it for a while
I think a colds going through this part of the country also … .and of course its getting to be hot as hell but that’s le desert for ya ooh and from that same page :
Mother Nature has PMS. Seriously: spitting rain, then sun, then pouring rain, then mist, then a cloudburst. Clearly someone is unhappy.
The stylist didn’t take off as much as I thought he would. My hair is definitely shorter, though. He’ll take off another couple inches when I return in a month. I can deal. I really have terrible hair. However, I’m grateful for what I do have.
Isn’t it weird that we humans place such emphasis on follicular extrusions?
Wordy, yay for Mom’s good appointment!
FCM, too late to suggest this now, but what about chicken enchiladas? Used to be one of my favorite ways to use leftover chicken.
flyboy, gotta say, a zero-net carb bun does not sound tempting. Are they better than they sound? (Keep in mind they sound as tempting as sautéd bath mat.) Also, re: the ballbottoms: ew.
swampy, glad you’re feeling better. There’s a mighty disappointed moose out there tonight.
sunny, the cruise sounds wonderful! I’m so sorry you’re not feeling great. I hope you feel better tomorrow. (48 hours to improvement for me, but I think lupus had something to do with it.) And dinner sounds yum!
red, I agree with MetalMouse. Whoever hired your direct supervisor is probably ruing the day now. I hope only the heads of bad people roll.
{{{herald}}} I am so sorry. I hope you have many good memories of her.
We have sunshine! Glory, glory hallelujah! Of course it’s only for one day, and tomorrow we’ll be in the gloom again, but dry.
They are finally doing vaccinations in the pharmacies as well. As many of the pharmacies don’t have that much space, they have to find someplace where they can do the vaccination and have people waiting afterwards.
So, as of yesterday, it’s possible to vaccinated at the chapel for which the famous bridge in Luzern is named. I think that’s pretty interesting.
An article about the vaccination, but in German.
Work is still absolutely crazy, and will stay that way for a while. My boss finally gets to bring his wife home. She had an accident 4 weeks ago, spent 1 week in the hospital wing, and then spent 3 weeks in rehab for stroke patients, due to the brain injury. She still has a lot to go, but going home is a big step and I’m really happy for them both.
Speaking of work, time to hang the duvet cover on the line, put more wash in the washer, and turn on that other laptop.
Happy Firday (I’m leaving it).
[Minter]<bigCAAAAANNNNNEEEESSSS WIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!![/Minter]
Sorry red. And I even had time for a 5 minute nap after the game.
That will cause a flap.
: stares in peacock :
Good Mornin’ Yall! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I have an appointment with the vampires this mornin’ followed by a trip over to the church house to deal with some church janitor Junior Warden duties. There is also the possibility of some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.
red gld your chances of incarceration have lessened.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe, and bother, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. How I do suffer!
Happy Firday Y’all!
Happy Firday Y’all!
I cut up the chicken, made some rice in chicken broth, partly cooked some frozen broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, then mixed it all together with a can of chicken gravy (don’t dare judge!!), dumped it into corning ware, topped with swiss cheese, and baked it. Turned out pretty good!
I’ll continue to put the basement back together this morning. Then I’ll take Roxy and we’ll meet my daughter at Salsa’s for lunch. T-boomers threatened for later today and into the evening - we shall see. Then very cool this weekend - like maybe reaching 60°! Tomorrow is FCD’s MRI across the river in Prince Frederick. I’m going with him, then we’ll go to lunch.
I have, sorta, 2 more weeks of Roxy wrangling before the end of her mama’s school responsibilities. Then I’m hoping to attack my garden beds in earnest - much weedage needs to be done. We plan to take her to the Baltimore Aquarium at least once, as well as to the Baltimore Zoo. What we’ll probably do is go to both places on successive days, spending the night at my mom’s in between. And I may bring the kid over here occasionally just for the heck of it.
But first, gotta get thru today. Happy Firday!!
It’s very simple - chicken (I use thigh, you could do it with boobies too) either whole fillets or chopped up, put in a baking dish. For one person, the “sauce” is 1 tablespoon runny honey, 1.5 tablespoons dark soy sauce, 1 crumbled chicken stock cube, a good pinch of dried chilli flakes, 1 teaspoon garlic granules. Mix them all together, pour the sauce over the chicken and shove in the oven for half an hour gas 4/350F/180C.
It’s basically enough liquid mix to cover and coat the chicken. The recipe says 3 tbsp soy sauce but I find that leaves too much liquid afterwards so I cut it down a bit. I make it with 500g chicken thigh fillets chopped up into bite-size pieces but you can also do them whole if you prefer.
Thank you. My bicep is sore and apparently I was rolling around in my (half-)sleep last night, since the cats gave up on sleeping with me.
That means Monkey is way short on what he feels is an appropriate amount of snuggle-time and so, he’s enthroned himself upon me. Literally, I feel like his personal sofa.
As it’s rainy and I don’t feel like letting them out into the mud, I feel this is an entirely appropriate way to pass the morning.
I roasted a few heads of garlic last night, so my home smells amaze-balls. Too bad I don’t feel like having much of it.
Oh! But I do have some CBD gelcaps, and I think it’s time to see if those help me feel better.
Good morning everyone.
I have much to do but am having difficulty finding motivation. I am sure one more cup of coffee will give me the kick in the pants that I require.
The weather is only supposed to reach the high 50s to low sixties with clouds for the morning and some specks of the sun in the afternoon. There may be morning showers as well.
We had another power blink yesterday. It was a bit stormy; but still. We have more power blinks in the last year than ever. There is definitely a larger population surrounding me now, but it’s getting old. My internet shuts of momentarily at night too. The modem is not even a year old, so it’s not that.
We’ll need to figure out breakfast, lunch, and dinner plans for the little one. Hubby I don’t really eat breakfast, and only sometimes eat lunch. I am sure we’ll come up with something. Besides, Zoe isn’t really a big meal eater unless she’s having a major growth spurt. She prefers to graze, so I always make sure that she has access to healthy stuff. Still, we do sit down with her and try to get her to eat at mealtimes. Most of the time we’re successful, but it’s rare for her to clean a plate. I’m happy if she eats something and I’m not going to turn mealtime into something completely unpleasant.
I think I’ll take Zoe with me to the store so she can pick out a new toy. I also need to get out to the backyard and go on poo patrol. It would be nice to get the lawn mowed before she arrives, but lawn mowing will be dependent upon when the bin is emptied today.
Onward to another cup of coffee.
Every year on Memorial Day weekend we have an unexpected cold snap. Today did not disappoint. It went from nearly 90F earlier in the week to around 60F. It’s chilly and drizzly but supposed to clear up later, so hopefully some sun will help. It’d probably also help if I stopped sitting directly in front of an open window, but I like the fresh air, dammit.
Also, almost all of my meetings were rescheduled this afternoon, which is extra delightful. Turns out no one really wants to talk to me or make decisions at 4 p.m. on the eve of a holiday weekend. Who knew? I also have zero interest in talking to others, so it’s win-win.
Morning all. A little rain last night and there might be some more passing through shortly, but it has cooled down (high is supposed to be about 79F) so that’s nice. I will get up and do some shopping today, among other things (so I keep telling myself). I have started on growing my beard back, beginning with a little Vandyke-like and maybe go full Civil-war General after awhile. Wish the hair on top of my head grew as well as the hair on my chin…
talky, Firdays before a 3-day weekend were always the quietest work day of the year. Enjoy the cooler weather.
nellie, I need a haircut too, guess I’ll add it too my list.
shoe, enjoy the cat-snuggles.
FCM, bet Roxy will be unhappy she doesn’t see her gramma 3-4 times a week anymore.
Dicey, happy for your boss. And neat place to be shot…
OK, posted this too fast and had to edit in the short window. All y’all take care.
They’re not ‘nasty’, but they sound as tempting as they are. No flavour. Not even if I butter and toast them. Also, the texture is… weird. I imagine it’s like biting into memory foam. Or something. They’re denser than normal buns. And they cost $7.99 for six of them. Plus shipping. (ThinSlim gave me a code for free shipping after I didn’t complete an order because of the shipping charges.) I think I’ll just use my Sara Lee Delightful low-carb bread. To be fair, the burger was better than the ones I tried at home, since there was lettuce and tomato. But I’ll no’ be buyin’ those buns again.
We had our first sit-down meal in over a year with friends yesterday. It was nice to sit and chat.
This week’s vehicular excursion is going to be the peony garden just south of here, which should be in full bloom.
Flyboy: are you eating no-carb buns for dietary reasons? Cuz I have a brioche recipe that is killer.
When I went to low-carb three or four years ago, I lost 70 pounds. I’ve gained half of it back.
I heard about this crash all the way to the orifice yesterday:
Since I was driving south, it didn’t affect me. I drive past that area, and I didn’t even see any flashing lights.
Anyway, on the news this morning they said a woman was fined $533 for stopping in the one open lane to take pictures. It is illegal in Washington to have your phone in your hand when you’re driving (even if you’re stopped at a traffic light). She was cited for ‘negligent driving’. I don’t know if that’s because she was using her phone, or if it’s because she stopped in traffic. Or both.
