It Is The Heat, A Warm MMP

Hi everybody.

I managed to get off irk at a decent time today, but even so, put in 52 hours this week. It was quiet and I got a lot done, as my boss took an unscheduled day off (no emails every 5 minutes). Gyros from the place close to irk and settling in for the night.

Read all, retained some. Rosie’s sig to all.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

What day will you come through?

IIRC, you live in Huntsville, so somewhere in Cool Springs (which is right off I-65) might be the place to meet up. Or Arrington is nice, depending on the weather.

Freeze-dried kumquats? I want freeze-dried kumquats. AND banana ice cream! I used to love B&J’s Chunky Monkey. I don’t think they make it now. Good thing, or I’D be a chunky monkey. Next time I go to the clearance section, I’ll have Ted’s voice in my head. ( I love Ted.) I’ll probably buy squid hash, thinking I could pair it with a thimbleberry coulis or something.

flyboy, hoping hard Tonka rallies.

My limited Google fu suggests that B &J still makes Chunky Monkey and it is usually ranked in the top 10 flavors. I’d have to take a spoon in my pocket, buy the ice cream and eat it in the store parking lot. Can’t stand it when my ice cream gets soft.

I stopped shopping for it years ago, but it’s good to know it’s still out there. I always loved the name. I’ve never bought Haagen-Dazs.

I like ice cream either “hard” or soft. When I was a kid, the local ice cream truck was soft-serve, and I’ve always liked thick malts and milk shakes. Also blizzards, depending on the flavor. But a nice, firm ice cream is yummy is better in a cone or as a sundae, I think.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!

I think my TP supply is near or just under 30 rolls - that’s very low for me. Time to keep an eye out for sales. I’m not a hoarder - really! But we have the storage space and when I find a good sale on something that won’t spoil, I stock up.

Speaking of stocking up, I need to get another pack of pull-ups, since a certain toddler has absolutely NO interest in potty training. Anyone have proven techniques? My child was trained by her daycare so I don’t have personal experience. Candy bribes haven’t worked. Scheduled seatings haven’t worked. Walking around with a load of poop in her pants doesn’t affect her in the least. She just doesn’t care yet. eeeesh, kids!!

FCD is going for an MRI today. I was going to ride along, but he doesn’t think it’s necessary and I do have things to do. I’m going to continue painting downstairs - I have a big sheet of plastic to protect the new flooring and I’ll just work a section at a time at my own pace.

We’ve been having nice, steady showers all night - I’m so glad I mowed yesterday! The rain is supposed to continue thru today, and this weekend, we might not even see 60°! I can’t believe I might have to turn on the heat on Memorial Weekend! I might have to fire up the stove in the basement - it’s been really chilly down there.

As for ice cream, as long as it’s not a cheap generic, I probably like it, with the possible exception of Breyer’s - it just doesn’t appeal to me. But most versions of Moose Tracks or Tin Roof Sundae will win my heart!

Happy Soggy Saturday!!

Read lots, retained little. Yays, hugs, and skritches to all as appropriate.

Tis shite weather here today, Currently 43F with a high predicted of 50F and raining. I’m fine with that, since I kinda want to do nothing today. I may not even open the door. Perhaps a venture to the Sure-Save, perhaps not. Feeling a little down right now, and the sciatica is acting up.

This getting old thing kinda sucks.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until almost eight o’ clock!
 ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy(ish) with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Looks like we had a little rain overnight. JDD and Partner are comin’ over this afternoon for some quality cee-mint pond time and general silliness. The four of us can be like twelve year old girls at a slumber party sometimes. We shall have burgers, corn on the cob, and homemade peach ice cream for sup. How all 'Murrkin is that on a holiday weekend! Should be a fun day and I am in sore need of silliness.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Goooooood moooooorning!

Twas a busy day wrangling Zoe yesterday, and she was plum tuckered out by 8:20. She got a bath around 7:00 or so, and then after she got some nest time on the couch to wind down. She is still in bed and sound asleep according to the sounds from the baby monitor.

Today, my son will come up to spend some time with us and Zoe. Uncle Bryan is the star, the sun and the moon when he shows up. Zoe doesn’t have eyes for anyone or anything else when he’s around. He is going to make such a great father, but he hasn’t found anyone special yet. Maybe someday. I don’t ask, and he doesn’t really talk much about his dating life. Besides, during quarantine, there wasn’t much social life to be had.

I need to finish up my coffee and hop in the shower before Zoe wakes up. Then I’ll need to tidy the kitchen, go on poop patrol in the backyard and get it mowed.

The weather looks nice outside and the sun is out. I think today we’ll go to the park just for something to do. Also a trip to the store because the husband forgot some stuff when he went to the store. I’ll take Zoe and let her pick something out from the Cheap Toys that Safeway always has on display near the registers. It gives her something to do and I have very fond memories of going to the store with my Grandma and getting to pick out a toy. It’s a simple memory, but one that has remained with me to this day, along with smell of laundry detergent and gingerbread man shaped pancakes.

Uh oh. I hear someone stirring upstairs. I may have to wait for shower and lawn time until after my husband wakes up.

While I would have liked to see the Preds go further, congrats on the Canes’ win doggio.

nellie, that peanut butter would make some delicious cookies. Just sayin’. :stuck_out_tongue:

magic, I’m not familiar with gathering places in Arrington, but it’s not very far from me, so it would work.

Mooooooom, just an observation, I’ve noticed that kids who wear pull ups and the like tend to delay toilet training. Yeah, training pants are a pain and going everywhere with several changes of clothing gets old, but the discomfort of truly being wet or poopy tends to give them the idea that sitting down on the potty is a good idea.

Y’all are making me hungry for ice cream. A side trip to Janarty’s may be in order today.

My TP stock is at the newly replenished state. I buy it by the bale and when I open the last inner pack (the inner packs usually last about a month), I buy another bale.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels and sheets ready for the dryer and fixin’ to do KP. I hope to go to Lowe’s sometime today for flowers to put out (yeah, still hasn’t been done). It’s in the sixties and I’m cold. Other than laundry and flowers, not much is on the agenda today. Tomorrow, I’ll pack Nelson up, leave him with my friend’s nephew and the friend’s dog Elvis and do some wind therapy. Sloth is on the schedule for Monday.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I gave up & turned on the HEAT the last two nights! What?!?

Took myself on a bit of an adventure last night. See, I’ve been craving chicken pho (basically, Vietnamese chicken noodle soup) and there is none to be had in my little redneck corner of western Mitten State.

Sat around wanting soup, not feeling great, etc. Finally .. yes, I drove to Grand Rapids - a solid hour, each way, barreling down the highway - for a friggin’ bowl of soup.

It. Was. Worth. It.

Mrs. L.A. got out the inflatable mattress and made a bed in front of the couch last night so she could sleep with Tonka. When I got up, Tonka wanted to go to his outside water bowl. He drank a lot, but I couldn’t induce him to eat. He’s peed on the couch at some point, and Mrs. L.A. said I need to be prepared.

Tonka is on the back of the couch being comfortable.

Mrs. L.A. just called the vet. They’re closed until Thursday.

That’s what my daughter thinks, too. But since we got all new carpets and furniture, she didn’t want me to have to deal with training pants that tend to leak. She plans a full offensive once school is out and she’s with the kid full time. They have fake wood floors with a few throw rugs, so easier to clean. So we shall see.

I’ve gotten almost half of the ceiling painted, and after a break, I’m going back down to paint the trim around the doors I’ll work on the ceiling some more tomorrow. Meanwhile, FCD is back from his MRI, it’s been raining steadily all day, and we had leftovers for lunch. That’s all the news that’s fit to print from FairyChatEstates!

Mrs Magill and I usually get a picnic table by The Barn. It’s usually less crowded and has better music (bluegrass versus modern jazz) than the main house.

The Missus ain’t wrong, I’m afraid. It’s a matter of “when” not “if” and you’ll know when Tonka is having fewer good days than bad days, fewer good moments and lots more bad hours.

I am so very sorry. My warmest {{ virtual hugs }} and of course, gentle scritches for Tonka. Let him have whatever he wants to eat, now - bits of cheese from your dinner, tuna juice, what have you. :cat:

He didn’t want gooshy food this morning. I usually share my scrambled eggs and a bit of bacon with him, but he refused those just now. The last think I know he ate was some bits of pork I gave him yesterday noon-ish because he didn’t go to his kibble in the morning. He’s still drinking water.

Afternoon all. Slept till 7am, and have been my usual unproductive self since then. Been watching the Strasburg feed on Virtual Railfan, they have some old steam engines working there hauling passengers for a few miles, and it’s fun to watch. Eating lunch now and the Champions’ League soccer is coming on in a couple of hours, so that will take care of the mid-afternoon portion of the program. It’s only 62F so the rain brought some cooler weather with it, hope it sticks around for the lawn mowage tomorrow.

Wizard, Red, that sounds like a nice place to meetup and not to distant for either of you, so pick a time and I’ll be there on the 26th. Wonder if any other SDMB regulars are nearby…

Flyboy, time comes to us all…some extra scritches for Tonka from me.

OK, need to finish lunch and at least think about doing something constructive. All y’all take care.

And from me. Some {{{ gentle }}} for Tonka’s humans too.
