I heard them ham it up all week about this being the “Funniest Friends of an already great year!” I was skeptical. That sounded like marketing BS because nothing major happened in the Rachel-Baby matter. Well it really didn’t and I still liked it. It WAS the funniest of the year. All the characters were clicking. I know I have been blasting Monica/Chandler this season, but they showed exactly what I used to like about them. Ross is losing a bit of the FREAKISH goof and reverting back to the charming goof. Phoebe began what will no doubt be an ongoing storyline with Mr. Madonna. And once again Joey didn’t have a bad line in the show. I think this is the best season of Joey’s character yet. My knock this week is Rachel. She is still so blah. I see what is going to happen. Ross and this Mona girl will progress. She is nice to him. She understands him. Etc. But in the end, Ross will hook up with Rachel because…why? I have never seen what he really likes about her other than the fact that he liked her in high school (and she is WAY hot).
Overall, I like the fact that the series is developing a few non-baby plots (Penn and Mona).
And as a man and a comic fan…Supergirl and Catwoman! Grllll!

OK, I admit, I actually do watch “Friends”—I grew up with David Crane, one of the creators. He IS Chandler, by the way—talked like him, acted like him . . . Mmmm, wonder if he based any of the characters on ME?
I also thought it was a very good episode. Lisa Kudrow has been bad in everything (everything) she’s ever been in but she’s wonderful in this series. She also makes it very easy to tell the difference between Phoebe and Ursula even when she isn’t wearing a Supergirl costume. Pretty good given how similar the character concepts are: Blonde, ditzy, weird, and that’s basically it.
I’d also thought this was a great Joey episode. He was mostly a warm body in the first several seasons but recently they’ve found things to do with him. And his Halloween costume – nailed it!
Sunshine-joey was dressed as chandler, and rachel was dressed as, how did she put it, a woman who just bought a new dress and won’t be able to wear it again for months. or something like that.
It is. Never being a BIG fan of the show, I thought it had jumped a few years back, but watching the reruns on syndication got me interested. I think the show is better than it has been in a few seasons. Seinfeld it is not, but it is still worth taping to watch after Survivor.(Ironically, I don’t watch a lot of Non-News or Sports TV, yet there is one night a week I have to use my VCR to tape a sitcom.
The who-could-beat-up-who scenario. Did anyone else feel they stole this from Seinfeld? I normally don’t watch Friends, but I watched last night and actually laughed more than once. However, I also cringed during some embarrassingly stupid scenes like Rachel giving out money (personal checks no less) to trick-or-treaters or every scene with Phoebe (Kudrow just can’t act).
