A few years back in Austin, there was a billboard for a local restaurant, ‘Chuy’s.’ You could see it heading north on the upper level of IH35. It had a big paper mache looking fish (their mascot) with Blues Bros. glasses on with a logo that said, Too Cool For School. Ok, yes, the meaning was, ‘we aren’t sheep.’ But the billboard was pulled down after a couple of weeks.
As my mother and I drove by it and saw it, we both agreed that it would be down rather quickly.
Somewhat similar to this, my mother and I were driving somewhere when I saw the following sign:
I lost 40 lbs in 2 months! Call (xxx) xxx-xxxx for free samples!
I thought aloud, “Why would anyone want free samples of the fat someone lost?” because that’s how it looked to me.
Evidently a lot of people must have found that funny. It ended up on Leno one night and now the signs don’t offer free samples.
It took a few minutes before my mother was able to fathom this. But she’s blond, so forgiven.
