Morning all! I’m up, but getting ready to head back to bed–I didn’t sleep well last night, and my tummy was aching, so I’m staying home today. Good thing too, because it’s only 32 degrees outside!! :eek:
No baby news yet … hmmm… we should be hearing something by this evening, I hope. All thoughts and good vibes and prayers are with LiLi, Mr. Lissar and the TNC.

I found out something interesting yesterday. After hearing his name mentioned on the news, this guy here turns out to be a long lost buddy of mine. You may recognize his name being bandied about during that foolish Iranian speedboat incident. Kind of freaked me out.

Just got done visiting a couple of buddies up in Ye Olde GA Bullpen between classes. Oh I am so glad I’m not teaching freshman comp this semester. The Powers That Be switched from the psycho ladies book* to a focus on citizenship. Everyone teaching Comp Part II is totally lost and confused, which I believe is the goal of TPTB. Graduate Teaching Assistants: the lab rats of the academic world.
Can I just state for the record that the people at the U.S. Government printing offices have way too much time on their hands? I dislike having to muck about in the law books in the basement. They are myriad and heavy and I don’t know why they don’t just put them online. Won’t someone please think of the forests?
*The authors of that book came to campus last year. I refused to go because it was my birthday and I did NOT want to have to sit through that crap on that day. Apparently the authors led everyone in a drawn-out, incomprehensible activity from the book and got into a fight over something stupid. In front of the whole room, I might add. I missed out on nothing.
Damn. Hamsters ate my redneck suicide attempt story from Sunday, as told second hand.
Synopsis: Drunken idiot tried to off himself by drinking 12 cheap beers and ingesting 150 iron supplements; projectile vomited all over the ambulance. Never was in any real danger at the time.

It’s snowing out! Pretty, HUGE snowflakes falling down so thickly I can hardly see across the street! It’s not going to last long enough to do more than cover the ground, by the radar maps, but in the meantime it’s SO PRETTY!
And yes, snowbunny and I thought a MMP baby-shower-by-mail for LiLi would be fun. Anybody in a position to organize it, i.e. has a way of getting her mailing address?
Back to work. Rush job just got shoved behind SUPER-rush job. Which pays through the nose, so SUPER-rush job, here I come! Wish me luck having time to sleep tonight. :eek:

Last night was spent largely with interviewing possible new tenants. We’re sinking and need any extra money possible, so the guest room is on the market.
The guy who showed up smelling of cannabis? Sorry.
The one who showed up stinking of cigarettes? Scram.
The one that our dog growled at? We joke that she actually owns the house, but if she doesn’t like you, we don’t like you.
There’s one fellow who our dog took to immediately, and he seems normal - not a drinker, trying to quit smoking, holds a steady job and can form coherent sentences. Just waiting to see if he’s not too badly scared off by the distance from our house to the beach, specifically whatever beach he surfs at.
Fortunately, I wasn’t on that call.
Still no TNC I see.

I’m tryin’ to figure out if it’s feasible to wrap myself up in plastic and still move around at work. Lots o’ germs a’flyin’ and I’m tryin’ to figure out ways to keep ‘em off me. I’ve also considered sprayin’ Lysol on everybody who walks by but that might not be a real nice thing to do. Oh well, as long as they don’t touch my phone maybe I’ll be ok. Today I attempted, once again, to teach this one person how to burn a cd from her recorder. She still does not get it. :smack: Four. Simple. Steps. Maybe one day.
Ok, off to take care of a couple things here at da cave (I snuck home a couple hours) and then back to the world of inshurnce again.

Just a quick update. Order of protection has been filed. If the judge approves, it will be signed and we should know either way tomorrow afternoon. The victim’s advocates that we worked with to file the report seemed to think that it was no problem. The order of protection also cost us nothing, which is a HUGE relief as that would have been $247.
We also tracked down the investigating office (Why should WE be having to do that?!?!!?) and got a meeting set up for him to interivew my lil sis this afternoon. I’m not looking forward to this, just reading everything that he did to her (we had to document it in the order of protection paperwork) was bad enough. But it needs to be done.

Not much to say. I’ve been to the bank and the gas station to refill the tank. I’ve spent the rest of the day watching House. Yes, I am addicted to this show–I am re-watching it (season 2).
Sun is shining, but it’s cold out there. Work tomorrow, the next day and Friday. Ugh. Next 2 days are 0530 starts.
Daughter is home and said her finals went ok. She has Bio and French tomorrow.
Hope LiLi is doing ok. A shower by mail sounds like a great concept!
