It’s SNOW and nothing but snow.
However I was prepared this time and am ok with the snow.
Today is laundry day and pizza day.
Unfortunately everybody will be here today because of the snow. Toosday is bowling day for my mother and her bf but I doubt they are going today.
I don’t know if it’s because of the snow but my internet connection comes and goes.
So another nothing day at the Sah-house.
I will think happy bones for you **GT **
I like Megadeath Capt although I haven’t listened to them for a loooong time. I don’t listen to music as much as I used to. When I lived by myself I’d crank up the stereo. It served two purposes. It made cleaning the house so much more fun and the drug dealers hanging out in the park next door hated it and would move on.
While it might be fun to be you sometimes, I doubt you would ever like being me.
It’s cold. Like 9 degrees and windy. I’ve decided I hate winter and pray that all the creatures that live outdoors will be o.k.
I could go on for hours about my family’s traditions but that’s what I pay my therapist for. This year I successfully deconstructed and reconstructed Thanksgiving so that I didn’t have to involve what’s left of my family. My siblings and I are gathering at my house this Sunday for an early Christmas (the dinner is pigs in a blanket, a tradition started last year, Aunt Vera’s Tangy Onion Salad, and corn pudding.) I hope to spend Christmas Eve with my friends, a tradition started last year and resulting in the most fun Christmas Eve I’ve had in decades. This year on Christmas Day my Jewish friend and I are going to a steakhouse. Another new tradition.
I do love the holidays and the lights and the songs and shoppers bustling to and fro and city streetlights and stop lights blinking bright red and green. As long as I don’t have to involve certain people!
Not a lot of bone, but bone is happening, and overall, Spineydoc says I’m right on target as far as the amount and location of new bone, as well as the various pains. Apparently more damage is done to the back muscles in the surgery than I thought, and that’s the main pain source.
The tree (artificial) goes up the day after Thanksgiving - and, in a relatively new tradition, I only decorate the top half, since it’s the only part of the tree that anyone outside can see. Lights on at 5:30 and off at 11:00.
The “family Christmas” is spent either at my mother’s house (the house I grew up in) or at my oldest brother’s - the only two close relatives that live anywhere near me.
The day after Christmas: the tree goes back in the box.
…make that four:
I spend Christmas Eve watching as many animated Christmas specials as I can - but none by Seuss or Rankin/Bass.
My usual list:
The Simpsons Christmas episodes (except for “Skinner’s Sense of Snow,” which isn’t really a Christmas episode except that it takes place at the start of the school’s “Christmas Vacation” and Lisa says “Merry Christmas” to the audience at the end)
The three Futurama Christmas episodes
The American Dad Christmas episodes, considered some of the best of the series (and not just because of the gratuitous violence…oh, who am I kidding, I know that’s exactly why they’re considered some of the best)
Justice League “Comfort and Joy” (Clark Kent’s parents wrapped his presents in lead-lined paper…again)
A handful of Nickelodeon shows (Ren & Stimpy (“Son of Stimpy”, but usually not “A Scooter for Yaksmas”); Invader Zim; Hey Arnold!; Rocko’s Modern Life; maybe The Wild Thornberrys and/or As Told By Ginger as well)
…plus two live-action shows: “The Dick Van Dyke Show Presents” and “Merry Christmas Mr. Bean”.
Howdy from da cave! It was 70 Amurrkin when I left for irk this mornin’. Now, it’s 58 Amurrkin out. :dubious: It’s also sunny as opposed to the rainy the weather PTB said would be happenin’.
Anywho, I made up a beastloaf last night and that’s bakin’ away and smellin’ yummerific. I shall also make some mac 'n cheese, lima beans and rolls to go with the beastloaf. That’ll be a nice dindin.
gotti yay for bone growth and bein’ on target. Boo though for the pain. Here’s hopin’ that will start to ease off soonest.
Not only that, but as many here are probably tired of hearing, we eloped after dating FOUR WHOLE WEEKS!!! At lunch… then ate at McDonald’s… then rushed back to the base (we were still in the Navy) because a kid who worked for me was being court-martialed that afternoon and I had to be there.
I guess it’ll last…
The whole county shut down today… for rain. **FCD **said there were some snowflakes at home but down in St. Inigoes, just rain. Then after lunch the sun came out. I’m thinking some wusses made the decision to close schools. Not that it affects me any longer.
Even the college closed down, but it’s going to reopen at 5:30, so we’re going over to do a quick workout before coming home for burgers. I’ve got a big pot of sketty sauce simmering away, destined for the freezer. It’s veggie-ful - onions, mushrooms, and 'maters as well as a pound of ground beef and a glug of burgundy. It smells yum - I’m thinking it’ll be supper tomorrow.
Work was good - I’ve run out of things to do again, but I’ve let people know, so I should be busy again soon. I hope.
Time to dress for the gym. Happy Tuesday!!!
Oh, yeah, and thanks for all the anniversary wishes! Youse guys rock!
Aw, I was so blurfy before I forgot the happy Fairychatversary wishes!
I’m having a busy day tomorrow- I’m going to the Christmas market in the neighbouring town, which is massive, and I’ve not been to before. I always avoided it because driving there is such a nightmare, but my housemate just pointed out I now live right by the train station, and there’s half-hourly trains from there right to the centre. It’ll be chaos, but at least easily escapable.
Then I’m off out for a co-worker’s birthday. Hopefully I’ll find out from them if the rumour I heard just before leaving my last shift is true- apparently the most obnoxious guy in the company (a total bigot with a violent streak a mile wide and a massive ego to boot) stormed out in a huff and quit on Sunday. Here’s hoping.
My annual Christmas watchin’ includes both MST3K Christmas episodes, “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” and “Santa Claus” which I call “Lupita Beats the Devil” because that’s what happens. This year SCCTM was featured as the third Rifftrax Live of the year which I watched (and fell asleep near the end of–what? I’ve seen it many times) last Thursday. I watched Lupita Beat the Devil on Sunday. Lupita’s my favorite.
Despite that last sentence, I own two different versions of SCCTM: the original MST3K and the Cinematic Titanic DVD. I guess I’ll have to get a DVD of the Rifftrax version so I’ll have a complete set.
There’s also the annual viewing of 24 Hours of “A Christmas Story” at Oldest Sister’s house on Christmas Eve. She married into that tradition.
I make a dang good beastloaf if’n I do say so myself. Plus, leftovers for tomorrow’s dindin! YAY!!! I know we’ve had fried chikin already this week but we’re havin’ it again Thursday. MOG is bringin’ over baby girl. Baby girl’s favorite meal is fried chikin strips, smashed N.O.T. and green beans. Thus she shall have her favorite meal when she comes to see Unca Swampy and Unca OYKW on Thursday. Whaddya mean wrapped around her little finger?!!
Please pardon my ignorance and intrugue, but what is this N.O.T. of which I have seen referenced a few times? Something about salad and something about mashed. Google is no help! Must know about food things!
