Jesse Pinkman, you were already told today to drop the one-trick-pony act. Since you’ve decided to keep putting on your “I’m such a loser” show in every post you make, this is a formal warning – find something else to talk about here and/or find another outlet for your posts on this topic.
My favorite tradition has been Thanksgiving at my aunt’s farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This year was the 50th… and the last. I often work many holidays, so I was delighted to get this year off, and with some help by a good friend I was joined by my teen aged children to attend the affair.
We managed to get a big family photo of the 26 of us spanning 5 generations (my father’s side of the family). Though my aunt is still holding up well in her late 80’s, having just beat cancer for the *fourth *time, she and my uncle have decided it’s time to hit a condo since the farm is hard to keep up.
As for the other holidays I am indifferent, having most often been required to work them. Indeed I appreciate most holidays merely because the traffic is lighter during my shift.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 43 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 59 for the day. Why, you’d think it was almost Winter or sump’n!
Howdy gigity! Come back and play some more.
Nava I think the blood test had to do with STDs or somesuch thing.
Ok, now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.
I think it was to test for certain STDs although sometimes you found out a little more. A guy I know found out he was neither male nor female when he got the pre-marriage blood test (he has 3 sex chromosomes).
It’s below 30 American outside today. Let’s see if I slide down the steps to my car again this morning.
I guess I’ll dispense with my advice to [del]the troll[/del]Mr. Pinkman that if he can’t take a girlfriend home, he should shake things up by finding a guy. Bisexuality doubles your chances for finding a date, after all.
Being a bit frustrated today- I didn’t get the job last week. The reason they gave is that they didn’t think I had sufficient computer skills. I’m quite annoyed by this, as I’m quite capable of using all the programmes and doing all the stuff they mentioned, but there’s nothing on my CV (or resume to you) mentioning doin’ stuff on computers.
Getting a certificate to prove I’m at the level I’m actually at (not even a course where I’d really learn anything!) would wind up costing over £1000, as my school didn’t do formal qualifications in the subject until after I left, so I’d basically have to start from the ‘This is the “on” button, can you press it?’ level, and pay through the nose for it. Bah. I need to find some sort of loophole.
Aanyway. I need to get showered and properly dressed, so I can go do stuff outside without scaring people.
Party last night was actually nice. Got an invitation for a sunset flight over NOB next saturday to see the lights and the ships. I am pretty excited. Should be a stuper slow day at irk.
As it turns out, he post in question here was was made before the instruction to stop. In the interest of fairness, this warning is being retracted. The note to post on more than just this one topic stands.
Caffinating and prepping for some loud metal after that, I have two days of men groping each other until one “submits”. Swampy don’t get all excited it is MMA.
It’s cold, but the roads are clear and that is what matters as I have to go out today. Well, I don’t HAVE to go out today but my friend from across town has to come this way today so we are going to meet up, get some lunch and then I’ll drive her to her destination because I know where it is, kind of sort of.
Better yet, you could have consulted the Straight Dope archives.
At least finding that column worked. A lot of the rest of my morning so far is less than functional (living room light won’t turn on, printer got temperamental, I now have to leave half an hour earlier to work around my local transit system’s scheduling issues, etc.).
Amazon here too. I used to love to go to the Marshall Field’s windows with my parents and sister when we were little. At least Macy’s has kept up with that somewhat. And they havent destroyed the historical trappings of Field’s (the clocks, the Tiffany skylight). But otherwise, meh, nothing special about it anymore. And the Walnut Room is sadly deteriorated and shopworn.
Christkindlmarket was a big ripoff I thought. Most things are marked up 200% over the same stuff I see at TJMaxx! No shit! And the pretzels are dried out and tasteless. Big tourist trap. Will check out the French Market tho… thx for that tip!
This year our new tradition will be to save up our Christmas $$ for a trip after the hols when the crowds have thinned to someplace special, even if just a couple days in Chgo at a hotel for shows and dinners. We dont need any more STUFF!
