Good News here.
The plumber warned me there could be a problem with the toilet needing more than a wax ring. All good there and he said the toilet wasn’t level, so he fixed that.
He warned me the new hot water heater might need new wiring to bring it up to code, and nope, all that is okay too.
Mine do the same thing. I think it’s because they LIKE a clean box. Can hardly wait to test it out.
Yay WetOne!
Horse day care would be very unusual, unless there’s some kind of park with riding trails or something of that nature around. A boarding facility is a possibility, or a rescue, as noted.
Have a great trip MetalMouse!
Nava best of luck on your next gig. May it have far fewer extremely stupid meetings.
Good news on Bubba!
When we lived in the country, although we met the zoning criteria, I went and spoke to all of the neighbors before we acquired a horse (or the goats). They can attract flies and some people don’t want them next door. Everyone was fine with it, but I ended up boarding my horse. Could be that someone did not check with the neighbors first or otherwise had a dispute going.
WetOne forgot to say congrats on your new horse overlord. May you bring Ariel many years of servitude.
I decided against quality cee-mint pond time as my sinuses feel a little wonky so I thought it best to remain inside. I made a sallit and have a beautiful lasagna that shall go into the oven in just a little while. YUM!
The location of said horse pen is such that neighbors would not have been an issue, and it could well be a full acre - I’m a terrible judge and I didn’t bother going there with a measuring stick. Considering the property went on sale shortly after the pen was built, my guess is that either there was a financial problem, or perhaps someone died and the survivors just don’t want to deal with it. Dunno - just speculation on my part.
Lasagna, sallit, and garlic bread have been consumed. Happy tummies abound and no vampires shall bother us tonight. There’s even enough for another meal. OYKW wants not to shabby Chinese [del]hog trough[/del] buffet tomorrow. Wednesday I have designated as mowage day at da cave so leftover lasagna is up for dindin that night. It all works for me. Thursday shall be devoted to smokeage of ribs ‘n chikin. Oh and tomorrow I get to go funeralize in the mornin’. OYKW is takin’ Firday, Moanday and Tuesday off so I shall have enough to keep me busy and adult supervision after that. All is good.
Supper was leftover brisket, fresh steamed Amish sweet corn, and sauteed onions-n-mushrooms. We’s both stuffded, and there’s still enough brisket left for a sammich.
My mom called - she’s got a bunch of yarn for me from AARP. And my friend who was here has some black-eyed-susans she said she’d give me - I’m thinking a trip up there may be in order.
**FCD **gave notice at work that Dec 22 is his last day. He said they’re being really nice to him. Methinks a few folks may be worried.
Today was a win at irk. A project I thought I would have to carry over into July got a solution. On the home front, the place is vaccuumed and a load of clothes in the dryer. The mojo poke, black beans and rice are even better the second day. Tonight will be surfing after the laundry is folded.
Rule of thumb for horsekeeping is an acre per horse. Sounds like Mooom’s neighbor had no clue. As far as horse day care, I’ve never he(a)rd of such a thing, unless this neighbor was going to do horse sitting while owners vacationed. But then you usually hire a farm sitter to come to your place.
I will soon have overlords of the equine and feline varieties. I may need my head examined. If they make me happy and that’s what it’s all about. Not the hokey pokey.
I don’t feel like eating dinner. I baked chicken legs so I guess I will have those tomorrow I may have popcorn later.
**Sunny **- I will gratefully accept any and all yarn. Unless it’s wool - I only make stuff that’s machine washable. I’m pretty sure a nursing home or veteran’s home can’t be bothered to deal with special laundry requirements.
And my retirement is tentatively targeted for the end of 2018, since I hit 65 in Jan 2019. We’ll see if I’m really ready to retire then. Maybe I’ll drop down to 3-day weeks… We shall see.
OK. I’ll pm you. I got a bunch of yarn while I was still working. The plan was to make a strip afghan for my king size bed. I would take enough for the strip I was working on while I was traveling. Ended up not working/traveling, and I have a king-sized bed worth of yarn…
Does anyone else here watch Jeopardy? Going into Final Jeopary there was an interesting situation. Two players were tied for the lead, with $20000 each, and the third player had $10800.
I thought the leaders might both go for broke, and have a tie. Has there ever been a tie to win on Jeopardy, that you have seen or heard of? That would have been cool!
As it is, the guy with the lesser amount won. He got the final question correct, while the two big dogs both got it wrong. I was disappointed, I thought the final answer was a bit of trivia most moviegoers knew. The category was “Oscar Winners” and you had to know who the baby being baptized in The Godfather was. Not the name of the character, but the name of the kid playing the character.
I wouldn’t have gotten the answer, but then I’ve never seen The Godfather.
Just finished sorting the last bits of yarn and I posted a local ad hoping someone will come get it. It’s free, what’s not to love? It’d be perfect for summer camp or Sunday school crafts. Fingers crossed. Else, it’ll go to a thrift store.
Lots of things but the only one that bothers me is working on/fixing modern cars. I have torn pre-75 stuff down to the frame and rebuild it from the first bolt on, I have resurrected cars that had sat parked so long they had become buried in the ground, I have even changed shifting motors on a 58 Edsel on the side of the highway. But if you want new spark plugs in your freaking 2015 take it to Sears. I ain’t even going to try it; I’ve been burned trying to get to things and ended up breaking other things way too often.
According to a lifelong horsey-type friend; yes but its very unusual. More the kind of thing you fall back on if you keep your horse on your property and are going to be away for an entire day or one day to the next and not able to get someone to come to your property for you. She knows of one around this region and this is someone who can name 20 tack shops off the top of her head.
