What was all that about questioning the move?
Taking the opportunity to speak for others… told ya!

Yay for the gig kanga! Things are lookin’ up it seems.
MOOOOOOM always go for the sammich. Sammich is always the right choice.
I have been suggestin’ sump’n for three months and TPTB finally heeded my suggestion. Oh frabjous day! On expense reports, which are electronic as are all our forms, we have to put in codes to note how to expense travel, mileage and all that there stuff. So, there’s this drop down box with all the codes but no explanation of the codes. :smack: Thus one had to go grab the big book of all knowledge related to irk and look up the code explanations to know the right one to use. Three months ago I suggested what a good idea it would be if the codes in the drop down box also told us what the code is for. Today I go in to fill out an expense report and, lo and behold, I find codes and explanations! A miracle I tells ya! Miracle!
Plus I had me some ribs and coleslaw for N.O.L.
Life is good.
Glad I’m inside - I wouldn’t want you to see me looking like this…
Just got a call from **FCD **- his dad had his heart catheterization today - they put in 3 stents and did a balloon angioplasty. This could all explain his extremely low BP… Dunno how long they’ll keep him in the hospital. He’s 82 - this is scary stuff.
MOOOOOM hope FCD’s dad has a quick recovery.
Home from irk. Actually I have some irk to do still but I can do it just as well from here later. I have a ground beast and cabbage casserole in the oven and it smells yummerific! Ima make some corn bread to go with.
Afternoon. I am working from home this afternoon as I came home to wish mr ems goodbye as he is headed to his parents this afternoon to Dad-sit so his sister can get away for a couple of days then his daughter graduates high school on Friday so I am headed down on Friday afternoon for that.
Tis hot here in OK over 90 today and the AC keeps kicking on. I foresee very high electricity bills this summer. Rah!
I have been wanting applesauce cake, so I scrounged around the 'net and found a recipe that had many raves.
It called for no eggs. Which concerned me, but look, all these people baked the cake and just lurved it, so . . .
It smelled so good while it was baking. Mouth wateringly so.
Time came for dessert. The cake is flat, and just doesn’t taste like the cake my gramma used to make.
So, today I will try a new recipe. Fortunately the cake I made yesterday will not go to waste, there is still a teen-aged boy in my house.
In other news, one of my peonies will have an open bloom by the end of the day, joining the David Austin roses which have begun their first flush.
Thanks for the giggles, Ruble. Humidity and heat give me the grumpies.
Have I mentioned at all, forget lately, that I HATE HUMIDITY!!!:mad:!!!
Well I got the internets cancelled next Monday. Tomorrow I deal with the nightmare that is Progress Energy to find out how much they’re going to gouge me to turn the power on.
My dad is allergic to eggs. My mom once wrote to the food section of the Charlotte Observer asking if there were any dessert recipes, cakes especially, that could accommodate that. Food Section Lady replied with a whole spread of eggless cake recipes. We tried them and they all worked. That section is around here somewhere but I have no idea where.
The breakout quote I remember from my mom’s letter: “Is there a way to make a pound cake without eggs so it won’t end up an inch high and heavy as concrete?”
Answer: No.
Protip: A tablespoon of oil and two tablespoons of milk makes a passable egg substitute in a pinch.
Well all I see that you were busy, apartmentin, jobbin, baking and such. Glad to see yall get along fine without me managing.
You know, scary stuff is hard but you have to push on through, you don’t get a choice and we all hope for the best in our own little ways, my thoughts are with youMOOOM
Been an interesting day as Canada doesn’t seem too interested in letting my boss get to NYC, hopefully tonight in Newark, we will see as everyone is in a tizzy over the weather
Ok now off to JFK to find a drummer and bassist:eek:
That’s all for now
JIM
I have this mental image of Jim standin’ in the middle of JFK airport holdin’ a sign that says “drummer and bassist wanted.” It highly amuses me.
Hello my lovelies. I forget who said that - was that you, Taters?
Rosie, I suspect you would enjoy at least a visit to Albuquerque. The humidity here is usually about 10%; it is rare for it to be high or even over 50%. Well, except when it rains - which is not very often. LOL I never thought I would say it, but dry heat really is not as bad as humidity heat!
It being nearly the end of the month, we are scraping the bottom of the food barrel, so to speak. laughs And why did formerkai have to write about applesauce cake?! Now my mouth is watering for something I can’t have!!! Oh well, I have big plans, I tell you, for this weekend!
Hope everyone is holding out okay. Kanga, continued good thoughts and job-finding vibes sent your way, and to anyone else in need too, for that matter.
Tomorrow is hump day.
I’ve been to Phoenix and Las Vegas in the summer. I am familiar with dry heat. Those cities are just too damned far from my ocean.
I do not like Oklahoma. Damaging winds, 2 - 5 inch hale stones and tornados.:eek:
And I am by myself after mr ems left this afternoon. Well LibbyCat is here but she is more frightened than I am.
irked, suffered through the 3rd conference call in 8 days, came home.
Hang in there, mmmm and LibbyCat!
Spaz, you cancelled the Internet?:eek::eek::eek::eek: Where am I gonna get my [del]pr0n[/del] world news?
Hey, tugig, change is hard, okay?
Besides, it’s a whole thing. Dad’s doing worse and now taking it out on Mom and phoukabro major (part of me feels really bad, and part of me wants to start singing “Welcome To The Jungle” with accompanying air guitar solo), so Mom says “stay out there”. I say “um . . . you do realize phoukabro minor might not be thrilled having big sis stay with him.” Whereupon, Mom whipped out her mojo, and the next day phoukabro minor hugged me and said I could stay as long as it took for me to find a job (and probably 1-2 months longer so I can get some sort of savings going).
So.
I have a phone interview for the 2-week job tomorrow. (Seriously? A phone interview? For a two week job? Seriously?) I think I’ll start a Pit thread about just how completely swamp ass awful looking for a job in this economy is.
I’m also widening my search to include Denton, which has two big colleges (incuding my alma mater), as well as looking for 911 dispatch jobs. I got interested in those while out in CA, and I did very well on the test for it. My biggest worry is how stressful it would be. More stressful than being unemployed? Who knows.
In the meantime, there’s church and friends and eating healthy because I’m broke. I always eat healthier when I’m flat broke.
It’s been raining here - not sure how long, but it’s cooled down, so I have the house open. My right hand is still a bit swollen, itchy, and stiff - I’m pretty sure it was a spider bite - what else would be in my glove?
Thanks to the rain, I can’t mow the grass - damn the luck!! I’m going to mess around in my studio. I got an email yesterday from the folks opening the local artists store down the road and they’re going to start taking in inventory next week. I need to decide what I’m going to take there to sell and maybe even finish a few of the things that have been sitting around awaiting a glaze firing.
I’m also awaiting a call from a guy who’s coming today to see what we need done in the front yard. The first guy never got back to us, the second is booked up till the end of June. So we’ll see about this guy.
We’ve decided to pay for FCD’s folks to fly here for the cruise. Between their health problems, we don’t want them having to drive 14 hours each way. So they’ll just have to drive to Orlando, fly for 2 hours, and I’ll pick them up in Baltimore. Easy-peasy! I just need to get MIL to accept the travel dates I’ve suggested so I can make the reservations.
Good luck, Kanga!! I’m sure you’ll find something soon!
Hiyas, **kai **and tarra!!
swampy, I love your mental image - cracked me up!!
I think I need caffeine. Off to forage…
Happy Wednesday!!
Cool! Then we’d have Fun Stories from 911 to go with Bobbio’s Fun Stories from the Bambilance and 2gig’s Fun Stories from the Police Scanner.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis <snerk> 69 <snerk> Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 88. It rained here also MOOOOOOM. A big rain that woke me up around fourish. Looks like it’s moved off from us now.
Spaz I agree. kanga should get a job with 911 dispatch just for our amusement and entertainment. What better reason could she possibly need?
mmmmmms I trust LibbyCat and you survived.
Now I shall seek more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Blurf.
Yup, rain. Saw a sunrise rainbow when I walked out of the house headed to the orifice.
**Harvey **as a dispatcher would be soooooooo cool. Should I replay my favorite dispatcher story from my Cottonfield County days in her honor?
