It's Always Monday Somewhere: The MMP

Two of my favorite series are The Universe on H2 and How The Universe Works on Science. I could have studied this stuff in school, but I chose a different path, and stayed as far away from the sciences as possible. Now I can’t get enough physics. So I’ve been pondering several things, lately; things that will likely not have answers in my lifetime. Things like

[li]When we find another Earth-like planet with sentient life, how do they handle Mondays?[/li][li]Shouldn’t someone be working on engineering the Heisenberg Compensator so that we can have working transporters?[/li][li]Where the heck is my flying car?[/li][/ul]
I’d have more intelligent thoughts had I thought about this more, but I took this opportunity to grab the MMP-OP (since I haven’t in a while) and because in most of the World, it’s already Monday. In fact, somewhere in the Universe, it’s always Monday. Have a lovely day, and 'merikin or not, say thank you to your troops, for they are the reason you can sit at your 'puter and type nonsense like me.
Hijack away.

OK, so for a change, today is my Monday too, since we had yesterday off (Pentecost.) Yes, it’s as bad as it sounds… :frowning:

  1. What do you mean “another” planet with sentient life…? :stuck_out_tongue:
  2. They’ve abolished Mondays long ago – being sentient, and all that, unlike us…

Both of 'em are in the garage for never-ending “maintenance.”

I suspect this is how the sentient beings stipulated above handled their Mondays – they fobbed it off on this poor place. See? Conservation of Monday. Rule of physics! :stuck_out_tongue:

Why is that a holiday is Israel, a predominately Jewish/Muslim country? Isn’t The Pentecost a Protestant holiday?

It’s just the English name (at least that I know of) for Shavuot. It’s really the same holiday – “PenteCost” meaning “Fiftieth Day” (after Passover/Easter.)

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 77 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 and rain. ‘Tis all cloudy like out and stormy feelin’. A good day to do stuff like defilthyfy da cave and laundry.

Rosie I agree. I want my dang flyin’ car. Where is it!

To all the Amurrkin Mumpers…

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!

Thanks to all who served and have served in our armed forces.

It’s time for more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed.

Happy Monday Y’all!

I am up, decaffeinated and at irk being irked by all sorts of things.

Swampy, if the rest of the universe had any sense, they’d hide from us because we haven’t come up with a way to tackle Mondays. They are obviously far ahead of us on that one! As for the flying car, it’s dangerous enough on the roads around here without having to look up as well…

To those who celebrate:

Happy Memorial Day

And to those who don’t, have a happy Monday and show the rest of the world how it’s done!

The problem with flying cars is that you end up with moron drivers with full use of THREE dimensions! Can you imagine the convoluted paths someone would take if texting while flying?? No thanks - I’ll just stay on the ground. Not to mention litterbugs become downright dangerous. There you are, in the supposed safety of your own back yard, admiring your petunia patch, when WHAMMMMMM!!! you get conked in the noggin with a half-filled slurpee that some moron has flung out of his flying car. Or your drunken neighbor parks on your roof. Or kids hot-rodding thru the neighborhood clip your chimney. Good times… :stuck_out_tongue:

I think a more practical use of modern science is to invent a self-cleaning house. That’s an idea I can get behind!

Good morning! I’m up only because I don’t want to get into a late-rising, late-sleeping cycle. We stayed up past 11 last night and I don’t want to do the same tonight. If I was really motivated, I’d haul the laundry downstairs and start a load of jeans, but that ain’t gonna happen. And it’s going to be hot enough today that they’ll dry just fine, even if I don’t hang them out for a few more hours. Yep, laundry - my big plan of the day. rah. And deconstructing a ratty garden in front of the house. That’ll pretty much cover things.

Happy Monday, Happy Memorial Day, Happy Happy Happy!!!

Good morning. I am up because the baby thought 5:10 was a good time to get up. Sure the sun was rising, but…

I would love a flying car, but would make do with a car train, or even an express lane. As I age, I have discovered the ability to settle for incremental improvements.

Hot again today in the Midwest. Should make for some fun barbecues on this holiday weekend. Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I dunno about transporters. Maybe it’s just that I rewatched Galaxy Quest, but all I can think it, “It turned inside out!” “It turned inside out?” “And it exxxx-ploded!”

I’m up and I’m crabby. It was 98 degrees yesterday and today is supposed to be only <sarcasm> 93. And I have to be at the barn to bring in the horses and feed them this afternoon. And Bob teh Wonder Pony’s foot is acting up and the vet and I are completely stumped.

I don’t want a flying car unless it’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. From the book not the stoopid movie.

Happy Memorial Day! I did my annual Memorial Day trip to the cemetery yesterday. Actually, I don’t need that as an excuse to visit the cemetery–I love our local big ol’ graveyard.* But I did make a point of visiting the mini-Arlington part of it.

I had a dream last night that confirmed that I am good and ready to move. It will be nice to have my own stuff that doesn’t disappear randomly because some people never learned the difference between “mine” and “yours” and the importance of asking before you take. ::Karma never fails Karma never fails Karma never fails::
*Please remember I grew up across the street from a church with a cemetery that I would visit regularly. Until they told me to stop because it was “unseemly”. I never did anything except look at the gravestones.

I killed the MMP!

I think I’m going to take a day off to goof around. It’s not often I’m off on an actual holiday. But first: make a list of all the things I need to do before I move!

This will be nice. The only thing on my schedule for today is give Clown a ride to the baseball stadium tonight. Two days of goofing off? Such riches!

**Spaz **- we grew up about a block from an animal cemetery (you can map it at 8408 Oakleigh Road, Parkville, MD. Our house was on the north corner of Amuskai and Water Oak Roads.) It was a tradition to take out of town visitors walking among the graves. There was an entire family of mice in one plot! Buried, not burrowing… The favorite engraving was “Part of our hearts are buried here.” It was actually a pretty little plot of green in a crowded neighborhood of row houses.

Breakfast has been et. First load is about to go out on the lines. I’m dressed and sprayed with insect repellent for my work in the yard - I just need to get it in gear. Yeah. I’ll get right on that…

And welcome to our little playground, rivulus! Where in the midwest?

I don’t want a flying car. People can’t drive properly on the ground. I shudder to think what they can do in the air.

Now a Tron Lightcycle, I want one of those. I think I’ll wait for the model that has the wall of solid light coming from behind it, though. Tailgate me, willya?

I don’t want a flying car.

When we were 15, and due to driving licenses for Real Bikes requiring 16, some of my classmates wanted “a bike with a boyfriend”. Me, I want a plane with pilot, personal relationship optional :stuck_out_tongue:

waves I celebrated Pentecost by getting baptized yesterday! And PB as well!

By fire or water?

Congrats!

HAR!!! You forgot mighty rushing wind though.

Congrats Pearl! Congrats to PB as well!

Takin’ a break from cave defilthyfyin’. I have dusted and vacuumed the bedrooms, study and livin’ room. Even cleaned the ceilin’ fans! Go Me! The bathrooms are cleaned and sanitized. I need to clean the kitchen which is actually not too dirty but I do need to wipe down countertops and such. Then I shall mop and be done! Oh and laundry. Sheets are done and need to be put on the beds but that does not take long. A load of towels is just about dried and I put a load of dainties in the washer a few minutes ago. I be domesticated! OYKW swears he’s cleann’ up his place and doin’ laundry. He says he dusted and vacuumed the livin’ room, dinin’ room and both bedrooms as well as the study. He even told me he was about to clean the bathroom. I told him I’d be over to inspect later.

Ok, back to defilthyfyin’.

mawnin all
Paper read , x-word done, caffinating about to feed the beast
Thinking about all the Vets in my life I will spare you the list cept to say Two Grandpas and one Grandmother were WW2 vets (go WAVs) If they would have put “Ellie” in charge War would have been over in 43, too bad I can’t hear her tell it anymore :D:(

Heading out tomorrow so its packing, laundry and finishing cleaning time

Have a great day everyone

That is all
