It's Canada Day, Up Canada Way!

Who better to kick it off than Stompin’ Tom?

Best wishes, fellow Canucks!

Anyway, happy birthday to us!

Strangely, I haven’t heard any fireworks in the runup to Canada Day, but I expect tonight will be a noise-fest, and it will likely continue through the weekend.

I thought so too, but the weatherfolk is calling for dampness. Why do weatherfolks always look so happy when announcing the latest storm, heatwave or run of freakish weather conditions?

Yes, high probability of extreme dampness tonight, but that doesn’t necessarily stop the enthusiasts of exploding objects. But tomorrow will be fine, so I expect an explosive Saturday night!

Will be driving up from Ohio in a couple weeks. Last time I was there was three years ago.

Happy Birthday to Canada.
I love my country, but I am worried for it, and many other countries and peoples.
But celebrate any way.

I’m not Canadian but I did grow up a stone’s throw from Canadaway Creek in western NY. Up until now I didn’t know that “Up Canada Way” was a song lyric, and now I won’t be able to think about the creek without thinking of the song.

Been far too long without crossing over. Until that can be rectified, from this side all the best on their day to some fine upstairs neighbors!

Not a cloud in the sky where I am.

Every Canada Day I listen to the Canadian anthem (as chosen by Bob & Doug McKenzie). See how many Canadian songs you can recognize!

Just back from watching the fireworks from Wascana Bridge. Excellent show.

Hope that everybody had a fun and enjoyable Canada Day! It was a beautiful day here; just perfect for getting out and enjoying the day and the celebrations that were laid on in a local park.

Here’s to 155 years of Canada!

We’ll be singing this in the 3rd quarter stretch tomorrow at the Riders game.

Happy sesquicenti-quinquennial to all Canadians! That probably isn’t the word. Happy 155th!?!

(Decades ago, GAMES magazine had a competition for the longest word you could make with four consonants. I came up with sesquiquinquennially, as did several others.)
