My drive was interesting.
I was thinking get on the highway.
Nope.
Down country roads, past fields, cows, and horses, caught behind farm equipment, through Catoctin Mountain Park, https://www.nps.gov/cato/index.htm. My ears were popping, at times I was driving 15 mph through the curves, and I was sure I was going the wrong way. A little bit on highway 15, then through several small towns until I came to the funeral home.
The ride was beautiful once I was confident I was heading the right way. I had no idea Catoctin was so close to here. I’m not much for going places but I think a drive through there when the leaves are turning is a good plan.
Not a lot of people at the funeral home. Probably most will come in the evening after irk. I recognized my aunt’s sister even though I haven’t seen her in many years. I’m surprised I knew who she was because I didn’t recognize anybody else from her family.
Ripple was so happy to see me he bit me hard enough to draw blood. Not a mean bite, he likes to hold my arm or hand in his mouth when he is happy. I didn’t even know I was bleeding until I saw the bood dripping. My son said he drove him crazy while I was gone. Ripple has crashed on the couch, now that I’m home he can relax.
We’re going to have to work on him, he just goes berserk when I leave.
We have ingested sup and are now in chill mode.
Spidey microwave usage instructions? We don’t need no stinkin’ microwave usage instructions!
Nuke the sumbitch!
swampy, pecan wood makes for yum smoked meat.
butters, my home has a clean but lived in look. I’m pretty good at keeping up the general cleaning on schedule, get the carpet cleaned twice a year and call a pro for spring cleaning the things that I can’t / won’t do by myself. However, a human with hobbies and a small dog who likes to play live here, so you’re gonna see scraps from the studio, dog toys on the floor and  some dust from time to time.
I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel at irk. I hope that it isn’t a train ala Wile E. Coyote.
I’m thinking I’ll get out of there shortly after lunch tomorrow.
Nut, my apologies; I’m sure you would taste great baked into a pie…
Sari, looks like a very pretty drive. And biting you hard enough to cause blood is something you need to fix in that dog before he does hurt somebody.
Nobody showed up for soccer practice except me, so I helped a little bit with the boys’ team (only 4 of them showed up) and then came on home. Need to get the sallit bag out and cut up some tomatoes and sprinkle some Olive Garden Lite Italian dressing on it…sorry, be back in a bit…
So anyone going to Canada to relive a bit of youth ?
today is a bit of disappointment as the nice pork roast we desired for dinner turned out to have went bad at some point ……. it started it smell when we put it in the over …… so a chicken is being fetched …….tho I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t have it until the weekend ……
I have a pathological thing with housework … as some of my family didn’t care about it until certain drugs were used and them they were abusive about doing it I could tell when a binge was starting when they decided to vacuum at 2 in the morning , in that state you could never do it right enough for them So I have a high tolerance fpr a mess ….
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 Amurrkin out and cloudy (could be for all I know) with a predicted high of 84 and mostly N.O.S. this afternoon. No real big plans for the day, so I shall putter around da cave and get in some quality Netflix time. Majik Intartoobz Pizza shall be ingested for sup. Should be a nice chill day.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!
Happy Firday Y’all!
Good morning! It was 39° in my back yard when I let Higgs out. Guess that’s why she didn’t stay out very long!
I’m going to get some lottery tickets on the way home - my daughter had asked if we’ll buy her a house if we win. I think we’ll give her our house and buy ourselves another, and furnish it from scratch. Sounds like a plan, huh?
As for Canada - I have never had a desire to try pot, and it being legal doesn’t change anything. Heck, I barely drink alcohol, as **swampy **can attest. That’s why he called me a cheap date!
TGIF and Happy Firday!!
Morning all. 58F in N. Ali-bama heading to 76F. Rain tonight is in the forecast, so soccer games tomorrow may be questionable–we shall see.
Need to drop off the gas bill (it’s very low during the hot months, as the AC is electric), but i think it’ll be going up very soon. Also need to pick up the pictures for the soccer teams and pass them out this weekend. Other than that and practice at 5PM, just another quite day at Casa Rat.
I’m almost out of work again. Time for another nagging email!
Drat – missed the top of the page.
Been awake and adulting too; laundry and checking the oil in the car and other things as well. I guess I’ll just roam around the Dope for a while.
Happy Firday!
It’s a N.O.S., slight breezy, 55 degrees outside.
Looks to be a pretty day, getting up to 64.
I’m going to call the vet today about their doggie daycare. I’ll see how much it is and if not too expensive take Ripple a day or two a week.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, MetalMouse, I am the only person Ripple bites. He is no where as bad as he used to be. He’s not being mean, he gets excited and doesn’t realize how hard he is nipping me.
My bigger concern with him is his separation anxiety. That is what needs work. I’m hoping spending some time at doggie daycare will help, as well as we need to work on getting him used to me leaving and coming back. Although I’m not sure it’s separation anxiety so much as he likes to go places and is upset at being left behind.
Juliet - forget pinterest, watch these videos to make you feel like you have to have a perfect house.

I love the master closet but if it were mine it would be mostly empty. I don’t have anywhere near that many clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry…
I feel like my house is always a mess. It probably isn’t but I see it that way.
My problem is getting started on things. Like the beadboard in the kitchen needs to be washed. I look at it and think it will take so long, but if I broke it down into sections it wouldn’t be so bad.
I grew up in a spotless house, it was always company ready, or took no more than 15 minutes or so to clean up before company came over. We had rules, no shoes in the house, no popcicles or watermelon in the house, you ate outside at the picnic table. If you were eating or drinking anything in the house it was at the table, no carrying food or drinks anywhere beyond the dining table. No messes to clean up because no messes were made. You washed the tub out after a bath or shower, got assigned a clean glass in the morning, and assigned two towels a week. No knick knacks, no clutter, everything put away.
I was so jealous of my friends who got to raise baby pigs in their bathtub, had a goat chained in the front yard, and always had a half dozen dogs and a dozen cats in their house. Of course, when one has several acres one can do such things, goats in the front yard don’t go over so well in the suburbs.
Once I got out on my own my house wasn’t so spotless. I had “collections”, and dogs, and cats, and fish, and birds, and rabbits, unintentional science experiments in the fridge. Nobody took their shoes off when they walked in my door because their shoes were probably cleaner than the floor. Sewing projects and art projects on the tables, tools left where I last used them, not hoarder status but pretty messy. I had better things to do than clean house.
Now I think cleaning is started to become an obsession. Everywhere I look I see dirt.
Spent the first half of the day in another meeting. Then a swing through the Pubic store, lunch and here I am. I may sneak out early today. I am irking a half day tomorrow and taking Moanday off. Also got a signed leave chit to be off next Thursday for no particular reason except I need to burn some leave.
Happy Weekend finally!
I’m envious of Da Bear & even the Rusting Rat (well, ummm, maybe :o) today. I’m doing that @#$%& annual stoopit @$$ training, with the even stoopiter @$$ questions.
One of them was which federal law (from more than a decade ago) is responsible for [del]us doing this stoopit training[/del] legally mandated info security policies. Really? Really!
Another one was a fill in the blank, 'cept you needed to type the word, it was not a multiple guess. I typed “expected”, I got it wrong because it wanted “foreseeable”. Ummm, I went back thru a few pages & searched for that exact word; didn’t see it but a reasonable synonym wasn’t good enough. :smack:
I’ve got my MegaMillions ticket - OK, actually 5 of them. So when it wins, we’ll have a party at my new waterfront estate…

Meanwhile, **FCD **and I are going out to supper. Dunno where - we’ll figure it out.
I’m so happy for you!
Mama is very sick, and needs a *very expensive * operation! ![]()
swampy, our diocesehas a new bishop. It’s here in the article.
As the artcle says, it’s the first time a bishop has been elected from an all female field of candidates.
I’d kind of hoped one of the other candidates, the Rev Helen Svoboda-Barber, might be elected. She once served at the catherdral here in Topeka. I attended her wedding when she was married. Her father-in-law is still a member here, and he will be disappointed, but this is how it turned out.
I’m looking forward to hearing the Presiding Bishop speak next March. He did a heck of a job at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
Mooom how was the Cracker Barrel???
We had Chinese for supper, (sorry, WetOne) then stopped in CVS to pick up FCD’s meds and we both got flu shots. Chillage shall now ensue!
