**FCD **got his paint strainers at the Sherwin Williams store - they were about half the price as at TruValue, and we got a nice surprise - there’s a new Sonic down in the big city (such as it is) - First a DQ, now this! We’re movin’ into the big time!

It’s mostly overcast and I see a band of precip on the weather radar that looks to be moving this way. YAY!!! Thus goes my excitement for the day.
Actually, it was for someone else’s rage. A guy locked himself into a hotel room across the street from the lot where the news vans were parked earlier in the morning, and threatened to shoot himself or others. It was resolved fairly quickly, as far as I could tell, because I didn’t see anything in later newscasts.
But the funny thing is, that while they were getting ready to leave (shortly after I drove by, someone drove their car straight into the lobby of the post office which is 50 yards from the hotel. So those news critters were already on the scene for the accident. Hey, I thought it was funny.
And there was something completely different that I wanted to say, but now I forget.

Brace yourselves: I dusted. :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: Used Pledge, even. My most hated chore in the whole universe, and I did it voluntarily… well, sorta. The inlaws may be coming here and I can’t have them thinking I don’t dust, even tho I don’t. 
FIL has pre-op on Firday and surgicals on Monday. **FCD **has been talking to them about logistics and eventually it’ll involve me driving to FL, then driving back the next day. I"m waiting to hear the details.
It’s raining a bit - not too heavily, but if it keeps it up for a while, it’ll serve the same purpose as a bigger shower. Poke is cooking in the slow cooker - it’ll be pulled later today. I think I might turn on the TV and knit for a while. My clay is too wet to start assembling the clock just yet.

I take it you’ve never been in northern Indiana? Even by Pennsylvania standards, those folks have corn coming out their (ahem) ears. If a crop ever fails, that state is totally done for.
Got to disagree with you there; at least for the region around Pittsburgh. They talk so fast (and so much) that the words just get slammed together into a new language. When I got here I was very confused by the Pittsburgh expression “jeet jet” which was sometimes followed by the response “no jews”. It took a while but I finally realized
jeet jet = Did you eat anything lately/yet?
and
no jews = No I haven’t. Have/did you?
(I’m from northeastern PA where we talk normally but add the words “oh wow” to every third sentence.)

Ever since the mention of tobacco fields I keep wonderin’ if the fields I used to see are still there. They were (are) on secondary roads I traveled a lot back then but haven’t in several years. Mayhaps OYKW and I will take a little road trip this weekend. Sattidy is supposed to bring us a pretty good chance of rain so that might be sump’n to do. Or not. I mean, it ain’t like I’m losin’ sleep over this. Still I’m curious.

Car shopping sucks, especially when you have very little money, and know nothing about cars.
Had a dermatology appointment again today- not going to get the allergy tests done now until August, when I’m back from Ireland, but they’ve given me yet more lotions 'n stuff, and bandaged my legs up with this weird goopy stuff. Very odd.
Doesn’t look like there’ll be much irk this week, which is unfortunate money wise, but at least it means I can go to the beekeeping meet and BBQ on Sattiday.
Anyway, while I’m here, the ickle spotty kitties have been having check ups, and there’s video. They have eyes open properly now 'n everything. We have one girl and one boy, though I think there’s only video of girly yet. Luckily I didn’t post up the pic my Dad sent me last week though- he’d only gone and 'shopped it to make the eyes about treble size :rolleyes:
