Morning all, it’s a balmy 61° here currently though according to my phone we’re in for some serious winds starting later today and tomorrow is going to be the End of Days. Fortunately tomorrow is a holiday so I’ll safe at home instead of out in the [del] raining brimstone [/del] freezing cold.
This damn cold snap couldn’t come at a better time. The sprog and I are off school and irk, respectively, so we’re homebound. We have plenty of French toast fixin’s and TP and cat food, so we’re good. I’ve got a bacon, egg, and cheese sammich for breffest, along with some nanners and coffee. Life is good.
Not much on the agenda today. I have a website that I have to update and that’s about it. This is a comparatively light week as far as activities go, too, so it’s a nice little breather before things get really busy.
Herself is off having breakfast with some friends and I’m just confused on what day it is. I’m not used to her being around on Mondays. As far as I know work is still on - this is supposed to be the big day when we switch from generators to actual provided electrical service. All of this is so complicated that we MUST MUST MUST (as far as I know at this point) have every package clear of the building and everything shut off by 10pm. Morning is being asked to stay late but we weren’t asked to come in early; confusing. Has the -3 temps changed anything? Has the predicted sub-zero snow expected changed anything? And what ever happened to Emmy-Lou? This and more on the next “Edge of Wetness”.
Just took the trash out, which was the first time a door was opened since Sat. It’s freezonious out there!!! It’s currently 3° out there, but at least the dew point is negative, so it’s a dry cold.
Made cornbread muffins for breky & now snacking on French Toast Goldfish[sub]®[/sub].
Hmmm, could one use regular Goldfish[sub]®[/sub] to make french toast; would the egg stick?
My dad takes his Chihuahua out for walks using his Rascal scooter. He thought she was going to pull him off the deck one day when the neighbor’s cat showed up.
Oh, my God. 40 below? EmilyG. How do you survive up there?!?
No snow here. Looks like the Blue Screw on the radar missed us. Good luck and virtual doughnuts sent to all Dopers in the path of it however. French toast is good and even better when made with Rum Chata, y’all.
Never having heard of Rum Chata, I looked it up. You can wash down your drunken french toast with a cereal shot bowl. :dubious: Booze - it’s not just for after lunch anymore.
I had to get some things so I walked to Rite Aid in 22 degrees feels like 11 until the wind blows and it feels like so that’s what too cold to breathe feels like happens.
Then I came home and spent the last hour working on the Short Story That’s Eating My Brain. Seriously, I’ve finished this thing twice and keep going back because I keep thinking of how to make the point I’m aiming at better. :smack: One day it will be finished. One fine day. I may have to throw a celebration when that happens.
Note to self: acquire cereal shot bowl. After lunch, pssh, some of the best booze opportunities are at breakfast; Doggio speaks the truth. If you’d like to start your day off right, you can mix yourself a Sonny. I keep a box of Cocoa Puffs for the purpose.
It’s so cold that the f#$@ing car wouldn’t start when I tried it out today. So now we’ll have to pay $50 to get the car-starting guy to start it again. Damn me.
I’m glad I live where the worst that will happen is rain today and then cold but sunny. The “No Snow” signs are workin’ overtime!
Errands are done and I met OYKW for a sammich at the Cookie Shoppe. He got cookies to take back and share at irk. I et me a chawklit chip cookie while there but did not buy any to bring home. I resisted temptation. Go Me!
I was in Calgary when it was 35 below once, coldest I’ve ever been walking through downtown in the funneled high wind. Even living in Anchorage usually wasn’t that bad, it was cold or it snowed but usually not each in the extreme.
Good luck, Ems, and anyone else battling the elements.
We’re in the middle of a frikkin’ ice storm!
Ice is still coming out of the sky and we’re slated to get more snow on top of it. swampy, can ya send a couple of those no snow signs up towards Nashville?
