OK, sorry, you are anticipating the bad taste and follow-up pitting about this subject. I guess I get it now, I just saw nothing vaguely pit like in your post and I got confused.
If true, my condolences to his family and people who care about him. I hope he manages to beat this or at least have a pain-free time of it.
Still, what the hell, I’m gonna my lone little conspiracy bus all the way to the end. No specific medical details, no comments yet by any hospital person other than the mere fact that he was discharged from the hospital. Weird. And none of the media mentions are going into any details either. With Kennedy we had info from doctors and medical experts aplenty. Admittedly Kennedy’s more of a national figure than Novak, but Novak’s a celebrity and usually these things are considered fair game.
So until Novak is actually at death’s door and we have some actual objective medical statements, I’m gonna hold out hope that Novak’s called in a favor from Cheney, who certainly owes him, and Cheney went to one of the plethora of medical personnel on his speed dial. Voila, Novak gets sympathy and escapes trial for the hit & run.
I like this scenario for a number of reasons, mainly because no one dies in it.

Fuck, this sucks. I’ve no love for Novak, but brain cancer is a nasty, nasty end. I hope he recovers - or if that’s impossible, that he dies while he’s still Novak, as opposed to some sort of vegetable.

Uh, no. Even “celebrities” are entitled to privacy when it comes to their medical records and condition, and hospital personnel that divulge anything the patient doesn’t want divulged can quickly find themselves in a whole world of hurt.

I guess this sentiment redeems your post a little, but the rest of it makes you sound like a dick. Face the facts: he’s been a bad guy, if you believe that, but he’s still an old man dying of brain cancer. Even if he was trying to get out of paying for his accident, he wouldn’t have had to make up such a severe illness that he immediately retired from his column.
So was Novak ever right about anything?

Well, we knew it wasn’t going to be a heart ailment.
Oh for pete’s sake, I know that. But he’s certainly sharing the news on his own (calling his state “dire”), and apparently he doesn’t mind his paper’s spokesman talking about it either. It’s only doctors who know specific details who seem to get the “stay silent” request.
Of course if he’s sick he’s under no obligation to allow his docs to share anything. I just think the circumstances about all this are unusually sketchy, especially considering he did have a huge legal issue hanging over him. Honestly I’m not claiming this is fact, it’s just a pet theory is all. Hell, I’m almost astonished that even now there’s no proof against it. I really thought if the result of his biopsy were revealed, we’d have some medical information to digest. Yet there’s none. It’s odd.
And that still doesn’t mean I want him to be sick, quite the contrary. Not only is Novak not on my top twenty list of most hated right-wingers, you’d have to go a lot higher before I’d wish so much as appendicitis on any of 'em. In the end I guess I’m in such terror of cancer that I’d rather hope that it’s all his perfidious cowardice rather than acknowledge that he really has a terminal illness.

If I’m gonna fanwank why he ‘chose’ cancer in my probably fictitious scenario, it’s because cancer is The Big C That Dare Not Be Questioned. Look at this thread! People speak in hushed tones whenever this illness is discussed. Something less serious would be much easier to call bullshit on.

Novak is a piece of shit. I used to watch him on Crossfire back in the nineties. He’s an arrogant sack of garbage that weak people gravitated to. He uses his gift of gab to confuse issues and outtalk people, not debate them. The country is worse for his existence and will be better without it.
I’m not glad he has cancer, but I’ll save my sympathy for someone who didn’t live 70+ years as a simmering pot of anus.
