It's SPRING in the MMP!

If people are happy to pay extra for beans that passed through a civet, I wouldn’t worry too much. I am not sure if it works with dogs though…

Kopi luwak - Wikipedia

Wow, these last few days have been…not good. Saturday, I was flat on my back with whatever superbug I had. Sunday morning, I thought I had come out the other side; turns out, everything came back by late Sunday afternoon. Monday morning, I got up and got ready for work, and actually worked for four hours before I decided I just couldn’t deal. I wasn’t accomplishing much, my brain was mush and I just had to face facts. Yesterday, I got up, felt like crap and didn’t even attempt work. I emailed my boss and submitted a leave slip, and put on another out of office reply.

Today, I am not 100%, but feel more human than I have in days. Hopefully, I’ll get through the day. I only have to get through today and tomorrow, and then I’m off for three days.

I have read, but retained little; sorry. Best wishes to Mrs. Magic for treatment and beating the leukemia.

I have actually had that civet coffee. It was delicious and smooth! I didn’t have to buy it; my son brought it home from his trip to Bali.

I am sure my email has blown up to hell and the worst thing is I have to deal with a PITA of a person. She spends more time worrying about what other people are doing or aren’t doing rather than her own job. She drives me and my entire team crazy. Worse, she’s always wrong and the more wrong she is, the more she tries to talk over someone. She rude and very, very intense. I am not looking forward to dealing with her today, but needs must. Last week, I had to shut her down. It think she was shocked, because I’m usually Ms. McSmiley Face/Voice, but I was just DONE. I wasn’t rude, but I made it clear in very professional terms she needed to shut up and do what I say. Ice don’t begin to denote my tone. She actually stuttered. It didn’t stop her from sending another email about the same subject Monday morning. I ignored it, because it was at about that time, I decided I just couldn’t work anymore because I felt so crappy. I am not looking forward to today.

I have no idea what the weather is supposed to do, but am hopeful both the weather and my body cooperate enough to let me get some yard work done this weekend.

YOU GUYS!!!

I was sitting on the Throne O’Contemplation, and specifically, was mentally calculating which bill might be put-off-able enough for me to purchase some nonessentials like a vet checkup for Nikki and/or maybe a chew-proof tank for the ASFs (and let’s not get into the hundreds needed for a new certificate of naturalization, so I can get a DL!) when my phone buzzed in my hand.

“Who the :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: is bothering me at eight thirty in the :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: morning when I’m sittin’ on the terlet?!?” says I.

Monkey meowed back in sympathy.

It’s my bank.

I may not have gotten the $600 stimulus (:face_with_raised_eyebrow:) but the big Biden check just direct deposited a moment ago!!!

Sums up the two administrations for me in a nutshell.

1: “Here’s a droplet of help. It’s not even enough to cover rent at your tiny little ho-- … oh, it didn’t show up? Huh. How 'bout that.”

2: “Here’s a meaningful amount of assistance, delivered promptly.”

Back from the bleeding and a quick grocery stop. The phlebotomists were very efficient this morning - I wasn’t first in line, but I was done about 15 minutes after they started on their list. I think drinking much water this morning helped - it was a quick stick for me.

I sat in the Food Lion parking lot eating my McBiscuit, then I ran in for the few items I needed. I even got a bag of chocolate chips so I can make cookies to take to Ocala. Because I’m nice, dammit. Since being back, apart from unloading the groceries, I finally emptied the dishwasher, then put in the accumulated dirties. Go me!

On Saturday, we’re doing a mini-Easter Egg Hunt for the RoxStar and her cousin (my grand-nephew.) My sister requested colored deviled eggs - guess I know what I’ll be doing on Firday. Actually, I’ll probably boil the eggs tomorrow, then let them chill overnight, and I’ll dye the whites and mix up the filling on Firday.

Meanwhile, it’s dreary and soggy outside, and if the weather radar is to be believed, it will continue well into the afternoon. On the plus side, it should help settle the dirt I moved yesterday, so I can see where I need to fill in some more - tomorrow’s adventure! Apart from treading the mill and building quiches for supper and the freezer, I have no plans for today. Maybe I’ll break out some yarn and make something.

PS - YAY, shoe!!!

Morning all. Supposed to be nice today, before the predicted deluge tomorrow, so I’m going to try and have a soccer practice tonight (if they open the fields up). Parents may go along with it just to get the kids out of the house after 2 weeks of being cooped up… and the temps are supposed to be in the 70’sF, so nice. We’ll see what happens.

Yeah shoe!! I haven’t seen any of this stimulus (I may be at the level that I get little or nothing) but glad you got it at the right time.

FCM, glad the bleeding was quick and relatively painless. Hope the kids enjoy the Egg Hunt.

Taters, hope you get to feeling better. and yeah, sometimes a PITA needs a good boot to the…wherever it works the best.

quietly, hope your friend recovers quickly.

red, hope they get the outlet fixed soon.

OK, need to solve puzzles, take a long hot bath, coach soccer, and maybe do some cleaning around the house. All y’all take care.

Gotti that LimbO looks like a good idea. I’ll ask about one at the pharmacy later. We used Saran Wrap and grey tape this morning.

Since she’s getting pretty intensive treatment, the doctor’s office said they would do the flushing. Good thing, because… let’s just say there’s a reason why I didn’t go to Vet school.

We’re heading to the doctor’s in about a half hour for the in person briefing and first treatment. I hope they give her parents the okay to visit, not because I’ll need the help (I’ve got this.), but I think both Mrs Magill and her mother would feel better if they could see each other.

Congratulations, shoe!

I hope you feel all the way better soon, Taters.

Today looks to be bright & beautiful but unfortunately the husband & I got into it a bit last night, so I’m bummed. Our arguments have a pattern - he’s concerned about our son, asks me for advice. He doesn’t like my advice because my advice often involves changing the way he talks to our son. It also involves a book recommendation that our pediatrician or therapist suggested or a conversation with one of them. Then a 3 hour discussion ensues about how an academic mistake our son made indicates he’ll end up in a flophouse eventually. Last night’s mistake was mixing up the algorithms for area vs. volume.

Before it could escalate, I reminded my husband of the book he’d promised to read only to find out he’d lost it instead. I didn’t want to argue so I went to sleep instead, which I think was interpreted as the silent treatment. I hate that weird, next-day walking on eggshells feeling. Oh, well - this too shall pass. But now I’m hungry and need more coffee before my meeting. Thank goodness for caffeine.

So I started out bagging the sorted letters, so they could be unbagged and resorted, while teaching a newbie how to do it.
Me: “So you take a bag an-”
BOOM SQUEAL BOOM SQUEAL YIP YIP YIP
“-got it?”
Newbie: “Wait do i-”
BOOM SQUEAL BOOM SQUEAL YIP YIP YIP
Me:
Then I got moved so I could stuff Da Jungle pig for the rest of the shift.

: eyes bag of coffee beans and Alex Catt : :cat: :coffee:
{{{{Taters}}}} Feel better.

Yay for stimulus, shoe! I bought a llama new toilet brush with mine.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s sunny and bright out there today. Weather app says “It’s almost warm enough to be fucking decent outside. This is as glass half-full as I fucking get” and promises me 12C/54F, mostly sunny. Looks about right, although we are supposed to get a dip in temperatures on Friday.

Taters hope you feel better soon and the irksome employee stops being such a PITA.

shoe yay for proper help! Will you still get the stimulus payment at some point or is it not worth pursuing?

Spreadsheet hell has been finished for a while and passed on to someone else so that I can have the new hell of staff development reviews. This year, HR have not provided us with any paperwork for completion and said it should be a light-touch process. I’m asking my team to each write a reflective document about their experience of the last 12 months. That will upset the ones who like to simply recycle their previous documentation and just change a few names/situations. Oh, I am bordering on vicious…

Last night’s shopping trip was uneventful, the usual number of idiots in the store who after a year still can’t work out sanitiser and masks. Today has been a day full of meetings, I’ve actually got an hour when I don’t have to talk to anyone so I’m listening to my friend’s radio show that airs tonight (he records it in advance and sends it to me for the sake of my sanity). One more meeting for me, and then I’m logging off to do an hour’s exercise to get rid of the day’s aggression!

FCD’s mom callled, close to tears, and he’s now on his way to FL. FIL is in a pretty bad way and my sweetie said he can’t deal with it over the phone. So I packed a cooler with all the food I’d made so far, he packed his computer and some clothes, plus 2 weeks worth of meds, and he left a few minutes ago.

Any and all good thoughts appreciated.

Huge good thoughts coming his way, your way and their way. Will be refilled early and often.

Sending good thoughts you way!

I had an eye doc appointment this a.m. Retinal specialist. Not a good lupus day, so waiting over an hour to be seen was a test of endurance.

Me: I think lights look a little brighter. Am I improving?
Doc: Uh…everything looks stable.
Me: My eyes have been more painful than usual lately. Why would that be?
Doc: Well, they’ve been through a lot.

So basically the usual shrug, but I’m taking that beautiful word “stable” and hugging it. I have an appointment with the corneal specialist next week.

I laughed an inordinately long time over this.

I never, ever do this, but I think I’ll get jammies on and go to bed.

Best wishes for everyone who needs them.

I checked the IRS website, and they say my stimulus payment will be mailed on Friday.

Mrs. L.A. got fed up with not getting calls and messages on her phone from Boost Mobile. She signed up with Xfinity today. She’s not happy about having to buy a new phone (her phone is a 4G LG phone she’s had for five years or more), but she’s getting an iPhone SE. I need to change my service too. Xfinity says I can use my iPhone 6S.

Traveler update - he’s most of the way thru NC, expecting to stop for the night somewhere, which I was glad to hear. That way he’ll arrive there fresh. His brother is staying with his folks till he arrives. Dennis can drive and he’s strong enough to help if his dad falls.

Meanwhile, the rain continues here. I’ve been looking up apartments in this county - most are close to the base in less-than-desirable areas. The other issue is a shower that isn’t in a tub, and either ground floor or in an elevator building. But no sense getting ahead of ourselves.

And on the non-inlaw front, we may not be able to make our cruise in June. I just got notification that our passport renewal applications were received and it could take 10-12 weeks to process them. That could bring us within days of departure… swell. So I left myself a note in Outlook for the beginning of May. If the State Dept doesn’t surprise us, we can cancel our reservation and apply the funds to another cruise later on. So I don’t have to deal with that right now.

Always something, yanno?

We’ve got an appointment to get our passports renewed at the end of April. Normally it’s supposed to take 4-6 weeks, but who knows now. We’ll probably get the passport before we get vaccinated.

There are things we can control. Passport renewals and vaccination schedules seem to be in this category.

Hugs to Moooooom and FCD.

Betcha meant can’t.

The birria has been simmering for about four hours now. I just checked it and the meat has given up the struggle to stay in one piece. Pretty tasty stew and I think the tacos are going to be killer.
